Hey has anyone tried Bootmod3 yet to tune their Mini? They released their tune in July for the B48 engine. I emailed them asking if they have any customers who have had success with Mini coopers and they said yes. They asked me to hook my laptop up to my car and send some screenshots to confirm it will work with my 2019 JCW so I am going to do that after work tonight. I have heard nothing but awesome things from my BMW friends who use Bootmod3. I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried it. Thanks!!

Looked this up, wow, sounds really cool! What was the result from the file you sent them?

So it's $600, plus some cables. Any other costs? How much do tuners charge for custom tunes? Is it really that complicated that one can't do it themselves?

 

Trying to understand why you would want cloud based storage of maps, etc. instead of having it on a hand held device in your possession. Unless I am misunderstanding the concept.

 

They got back to me and said the DME on the 2019 can't be unlocked yet. maybe older mini's have better luck. they did say mini customers with B48 motors are using it. darn :( you get one map when you buy it for $595 and then for $50 more you get access to all other maps and any future updates. its awesome.. this video explains a lot..

 

ByteTronik can unlock your 2109 DME. They unlocked my 2019 MINI JCW. You have to send it to them. It was super quick turn-around. Evolve in England claims they can unlock the 2019 ECU remotely. They send you their OBD cable adapter and it's easy from there. I investigated with Evolve quite a bit, but don't have their tune on the car. Good luck.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but do 2019s need their DME bench unlocked still? Or can something like bootmod3 do it now

 

so from what I've read and heard is that DME unlock is mostly necessary on 11/2019 and after vehicles. Also the cars that has updated their iDrive through dealers apparently
