Coolant volume?

Does anyone know the amount of coolant a 2021 Clubman JCW can hold? Couldn’t find it in the manual.

Hey I looked around as well and didn’t see how much. However I just had to replace the coolant on mine, and I had to buy a 2nd gallon of Zerex G48 while in the middle of bleeding it. So my tip would to be buy the Mini coolant that is not diluted and grab a gallon of distilled water and mix it yourself thus giving you 2 gallons which should be plenty and cheaper than buying 2 gallons of the pre made stuff.

Is the engine code for the 2021 B48?

According to newTIS, the coolant capacity for B46/B48 with automatic is 6.1 liters, which works out to a little over 1.5 gallons. I agree, buy the concentrate and a gallon of distilled water, and mix 50:50 to fill.

I have to ask, however, why are you looking to replace the coolant on such a new car?

Hey, thanks for the tip! The reason I'm asking is because I was going to test out some amsoil coolant booster for fun. I've been logging my temps to try and do a somewhat accurate comparison. But I wanted to make sure I added the correct recommended amount based on my capacity. It's a bit strange Mini doesn't officially list it the manual or anywhere else. Mini Mania says a 6 liters, but outmotering and ecs tuning say 8+ liters. Not sure which is accurate and haven't seen a clubman referenced anywhere. May just split the difference.

Are you planning on a complete change or just adding in the amsoil? If you are dropping the coolant, then i would go the route i suggested with the Mini coolant and distilled water, and put your amsoil during your bleeding process. If you are just wanting to add it to your coolant that you have now, i would just remove the coolant from the reservoir, with a clean turkey baster or something of that nature into a clean container, add the amsoil and top it off with fluid that was pulled.

They don't list it in the manuals because they want you to take it in for service and have the dealer change it out.

If you are serious, pick up a coolant vacuum bleeder from ECS, a gallon of concentrate coolant, and a gallon of distilled water. Drain the whole thing, mix up the coolant, water, and booster, then refill the system. I really doubt it will take more than the 2 gallons of fluid. If it needs more, just dilute with water up to the needed volume.

Since it's brand new, I was just going to add the booster. And I was planning on doing exactly what you suggested with the baster. I just needed to figure out how much booster to add since the Ammsoil has an oz/qt measurement based on the capacity of the coolant.

The only fault that is possible in your logic involves how the expansion tank is plumbed into the system. I would verify if the coolant actually flows through the tank. It could just be a reservoir of available coolant, and not actually a flowing path through the system. If there is no flow through the expansion tank, then just adding the booster to the tank won't do that much good.

Good point, but luckily that's easily resolved by adding adding it directly into the radiator.
