225/40 on stock 18x7 wheels.

Hi everyone. just got a international orange edition JCW. I want a new wheel set but wifey won’t let me get a new set of wheels, only tires. I have to stick with RFT and I need to go all season( wife drives the car as well)

Anyone put 225/40/18 on stock 18x7 JCW wheels? What recommenced spacer size should I use to bring wheels out enough so that the tire won’t rub strut and plastic arch?

I'd suggest that 215s would work better. No need for drama with clearances, but more importantly the 7" rim does not support the 225 very well, and the result in my experience is actually a loss of performance during cornering.

Cheers,

Charlie

I am running Re05 17x8 +45, and a full coil-over setup with -2.3 degrees of camber out front. Tires are 225/45-17 A052.

I had minor rubs on compression on the left rear only, which "self adjusted" and is not a problem. Did not damage the tire in the adjustment process, although a slight mark appeared for a day.

The tight spots are at 10 and 2 o'clock on the rear inner fender liners. The front end was not an issue.

So I surely cannot guarantee it, but I think you have a solution that will work for you. As I am sure you know, clearing the Brembos is the hard part for the JCW.

Cheers,

Charlie
