Exhaust...

So exhaust is one of the most simple bolt on upgrades... can anyone point out why this Borla kit is claimed not to be comparable with our JCW models?

https://www.borla.com/products/coope...t__140517.html

I looking to purchase this but now I’m here scratching my head. All because it says “except John Cooper works”. I don’t see any reason why the claim this...

thanks everyone.

Here's my guess... The early JCW R56 had that big long front resonator pipe, and the Borla kit isn't long enough to replace that resonator. The Borla is designed to replace the section between the S cat and resonator. If you have a later model JCW with the second cat, then the Borla should work just fine.

axle back

i just bought and can recommend highly the AXLE back borla SPORT model. my 2015 jck f56,
less invasive, just need to cut muffler, only issue is a 2015 JCK works pipe size is a 1/4" larger
diameter, all i did was cut 4 2" deep cuts to the end of stock pipe,
then slide the Borla pipe INTO that pipe, then using the supplied clamp tighten it up.
the sound is great no droning at cruise speed, pops better then stock JCW muffler.

second cat or not, both systems are the same length. Are they not? I’ve read that owners with and S model have installed a JCW cat back boot right up. So that would mean they both are same length and match up but have a few diff components..... so the Borla should technically fit the JCW since it’s a cat back system.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you look at the diagram I posted, they are clearly not the same. The Borla keeps the second cat and removes the small resonator from the second system. The early JCW has one large resonator. If you tried to install the Borla on an early JCW, it won’t fit.

Also Borla System is 2.50 piping vs JCW is 2.75 piping. This could be an issue since you would need a adapter and I’m sure you would have a back flow issue? Not 100% but I’m sure it wouldn’t jive.
