Some Changes...a bit of an Alignment Startover

First I replaced the front end bushings with the PowerFlex BLACK bushings...definitely firmer and more responsive
Pulled the hardly used Bilstein 14 Coilovers and installed new Bilstein 16 PSS10 Coilovers … the 1-10 adjustments on the new coilovers are set on 3 Front 5 Rear to start with
I have actually raised the Mini a bit to 22.4" Front and 22.7" Rear (measured from the bottom on the rim edge to the bottom of the plastic fender skirt
Alignment : Worked toward evening out the Caster which did remove some Camber but this is all a new starting point
Front Camber -1.6...-1.9
Front Caster 3.6...3,6
Toe Out -.05...-.05
Rear Camber -1.8...-1.7
Toe Out -.01...-.02

I am going to adjust tire pressures this Saturday during the AutoX

The JCW definitely rides better at this ride height AND with the new Bilsteins (being that the compression/rebound adjustment is available...NOTE: It has a single adjustment **** from soft to hard)

I am actually selling the Bilstein 14 Coilovers which have 7 AutoXs on them and about 800 miles...$500.00
I am also selling the original JCW suspension which I swapped at ~3000 miles...$250
The JCW Exhaust which is like new will also be for sale including Bluetooth Control...$700

I'm really curious how this more caster less camber is going to help out in the front. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how caster turns to camber when turning.
Let us know how it goes. Might to the same to mine.

Well (in Texas) they just cancelled out AutoX for Saturday...our club did after Gov Abbott announced a step back...

As for Caster here is some reason to pay attention to the numbers. Positive Caster positions the Lower Ball Joint ahead of the UBL/Strut Tower. That improves straight line stability at speed by creating a self-aligning torque that draws the front wheels back to center at speed. It also increases Negative Camber on the Outside Wheel/Tire when cornering which helps with weight transfer. Basically Positive Camber improves overall handling, maximum traction and steering responsiveness.

NOTE: On Circle Tracks the front left wheel (inside tire) will be set with significantly less positive caster (sometime negative caster) than the right side tire... "Caster Split" will put approximately 1-2 degree left and 3-5 degree right on a circle track.

My position was to increase my drivers side to at least equal the passenger side positive caster as a start toward a better handling Mini...ie, better straight line traction and increased Negative Camber when turning. Next I will shave the Caster/Camber Plate a bit on the drivers side so I can increase the Negative Camber and still have higher Positive Caster equal on both sides. My aim is to have ~3.6/3.7 degrees Positive Caster and ~2/2.1 degrees Negative Caster on both sides.
