Free service!...

Took my 2018 JCW to the local dealer for its 10K mile oil/filter service. It has been 5K miles since the last oil/filter service and I like to follow a 5K mile oil/filter service schedule.

Service advisor wrote up the service order then handed me copies to sign. I noticed the boxes for the estimate were blank.. While I trust the dealer -- or I wouldn't be there at all -- I asked why no price estimate? SA told me the 10K mile service was free. I told him I never bought a service plan but he told me free scheduled services came as part of the car's purchase price.

So new oil/filter and a micro filter all in under an hour and all for free. Yay!

You should have free scheduled service for 3yr/36K as 'normal' with your car, it is the MINI way. Did you miss that when you bought your car??

Apparently I was not aware of the free 3 year/36K mile service. The purchase negotiation was a bit intense because I was offering something below "sticker" and was successful. The free scheduled service was probably mentioned at some point during or after the purchase when the salesman was going over the car with me but I don't recall.

This most recent service visit was the 1st time I've had the car in for a scheduled service. Previously the car was in for "early" servicing: Engine oil and filter; at around 600 miles, 2K miles then again at 5K miles.

This man knows how to seat a DIT! Hats off to you sir. Dont let anyone fool you into believing your hot, high-rev turbo likes dirty oil and soot. Love it with oil! Too many times I hear the "Im just going to follow what the dealer said" ..dealers make money selling cars, not servicing them. LOL.

Used car sales and service departments are far more profitable for dealers than new car sales. Ask any dealer.
