Jcw questions

Hello, I just got a 2017 jcw 2door hardtop. This is my first Mini and I’m completely lost! I don’t really like the front bumper style so I’ve been searching online before coming on the forum. I’m really curious Is the front bumper changeable? Or what other years are compatible with 2017?

You're pretty much stuck with it especially since it's a JCW. You've actually got a tiny auxiliary radiator behind the grill on the drivers side. The other side is fake just to keep it symmetrical. Yep we're driving Startled Goldfish.

That's an R56 JCW with custom grills and an M7 hood scoop. Somewhere between 2007 and 2013.

Yep a Gen3 MINI is never going to be associated with a shark or a stingray. Now my Gen1 has been called a Pig on Wheels.

Well, my ‘15 JCW is my first MINI as well, but I’ve been a Mini fan for decades. What you have is the most sophisticated and powerful stock MINI ever!

The front bumper is a safety feature for pedestrians, and I’m no fan either but it has grown on me! If my state required front license plates I’d have a plate dead center on the puppy & it would fit nicely, especially a Euro style plate.

The prior MINI generations have suffered from certain build & engine issues, and this is why I opted for a new MINI JCW with the BMW B48 engine.

You need to focus on all of the good features of your JCW and mod it to your liking if you so choose. As time passes I believe this generation MINI will prove it’s worth!

Bottom line though, if you hate the car so much then why did you buy it?

You could always contact Ian Rousset from the program
Full Custom Garage and tell him to redesign the front
for you. He likes tackling things he's never done before
so that's one point in your favor. Another is that we will
all get to see the car during and after the process on T.V..

I did not buy my two MINIs for the sporty styling. Some might call your car ugly but that is better than "cute" , which makes me cringe. I bought them for the performance and the space inside as being 6-3 I could not fit myself into my S2000 for more than 30 minutes before my hip hurt.

You have a Gen3 JCW, anytime you wish to discard it, I would wager there are more than a few that would take it off your hands. Besides on a good twisty road like the Dragon, you cannot see the front and the grin on your face makes you forget about seeing the face.

I love the look of my F56, F55 & R60. No complaints other than the Royal Grey on the R60 is a bit dull unless it is spit shined.

I've only seen one MINI model I absolutely hate and in the interest of being nice I won't mention it.

dont get get me wrong the car has amazing features! It’s a monster to drive and I love driving it. The bumper is just cosmetics and I was simply asking if it could be changed to make the cosmetics aspect of it tickle my fancy a bit more.

Or you might like something a little more subtle.

I got it from these guys. The one on the red car is from A.C. Schnitzer and will set you back $400 + shipping. I had one and replaced with the S4S part. Nothing wrong with the ACS unit, but I wanted something that actually exerts some downforce. And I like the looks.

It doesn't require the stanchions, but I think it looks better with them.

thats not too expensive, considering my last car was a GTI.. and that thing set me back many of dollars 🙃
i think the stanchions make it look aggressive! IMO it looks nicer with them.

Chris Sneed is a good guy. He did my 4 point roll bar, rear seat delete, and installed my Sparco seats and harnesses.

I'm in the same boat. I never liked that front and had hoped the dark rebel racing green would help the issue. It does, but not enough. I think a splitter of some sort would help a lot. Not sure if I'd go with the JCW pro pieces or that ACS unit. Keep us updated titea.

That one above is the AC Schnitzer one. We carry the 3D design and Sneed 4 Speed also.

Sneed 4 Speed - Very nice and aggressive, maybe the nicest one i have seen for a simple design, you will notice this when people see it . get the hardware for the little holders/ adjusters ( stanchions ), as pictured it doesn't come with them.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-sneed4speed-parts/v-mini/

3D design is nice and formed, like an OEM piece but its $$$, it is on sale right now 5% off. Carbon fiber and form fitted. Like Duell AG quality.

AC Schnitzer S and JCW Version: Simple and has some contour.

Lets just say, this morning, I was glad I got the Schnitzer, not the 3D carbon fiber.
I went up a driveway, a little quick, and the Schnitzer took it like a man!! The 3D would be in shards!!

Yes, got to watch the front lips on low curbs and driveways no matter what.

"Schnitzer took it like a man" best quote i have heard in a long time.
