I have a gauge that reads cat temp so I usually wait until it goes below 1000 before shut down.

Just watch out for the hose coming from the valve cover. Mine comes loose once in a while.

Now if you ever decide to go to DoS intake, it will be a very easy install with this pipe as it doesn't fit well with the stock tube.

What did you need for the setup?

Believe me, I'm watching anything coming from that directions including flying squirrels!

I am using Aeroforce gauge to monitor coolant and cat temp. There are so many options out there now from scangauge to an obd2 adapter that talks to an app on your phone. Just pick one that works best for you.

I've ordered a Veepeak Mini OBD2 WiFi and I've downloaded DashCmd. I don't know exactly what info it will give me, but it's a start.

it'll give plenty of info, I use torque with a tab s 8.4... i like the "skins" for dashcommand better, that and i'm just sick of the torque gauge set up

my Gpop rebuilt/upgraded turbo is still doin great, 15k+ miles on it. kind of want to go bigger but am just not getting around to tuning for it and meth, hoping it'll bump up the numbers enough to keep me happy for a while.

is your car tuned? didnt catch if it was- i went from stock s turbo with wore out waste gate to the gpop and mid-rpm gains were crazy just on the manic stage 2 tune.

Mine is a 2009 JCW. It's the original turbo rebuilt and upgraded. No tune just the JCW setup. I know the factory spec on her and had a few opportunities to test her out. She was pretty spirited at low speeds too. Hope that remains. I really didn't need more out of her, but the seal destruction was a point to weigh options. I'll have to think about a tune. Mainly I want my MINI to last.

I have a 2010 Clubman JCW with approx 43K miles. The CAI gasket split apart and plastic pieces got sucked into the Turbo and damaged the impeller fins. Since my car was out of warranty, the dealer wants $4.4k to repair.

I'm considering replacing the stock CAI with Alta CAI.

@sikamini, Is the Alta a direct swap? Do I need to do anything ECU?

It's direct. You'll need to keep and reuse the smaller hose going to the valve cover. It's an easy install. No ECU work.

Sounds like what happened with my MINI. I figured that the price would be near what you were quoted. I decided to send my turbo to be rebuilt and upgraded. Here's what I did, described in the OP.

My total parts cost was around 2K. The turbo rebuild upgrade and the intercooler being the largest part of the cost.

I have the Forge turbo inlet and am happy with it. I like the design how it tapers gradually down from the AMS to the turbo. It comes with everything you need to replace the stock one and tap into the crank case vent. It seems to wake up the acceleration a little. I have had 2 JCW's, a 2009 and a 2010 and both had the cracked intake at the turbo inlet. I think I got lucky before there was any damage.

Although I kept mine stock for nine years and went through two inlet hoses, I'm inclined to recommend getting rid of it if anyone has it in the JCW. It's not worth the cost of time and parts.

Thank you! I had been doing a lot of business travel these past weeks. I went and ordered one today.

I do have one of these Alta pipes as shown in the first picture if anyone is interested. I bought it from another member who had an 09 JCW. Never installed it.

I finally got the time to install my Alta inlet. I hope this will hold up better than the crappy OEM plastic inlet which damaged my Turbo.

I just checked Alta's site and it says that the same pipe fits 2009 through 2012...not much of a help if you have a 2013 JCW. However, I believe it would fit - as far as I know there were no intake changes between 2012 and 2013 JCW's. You could check realoem and/or ECS to make sure.

I have this pipe on my '09 JCW and it is a quality product....got it for peace of mind, but it sure dressed up my engine bay as well.

I've run the alta aluminum on my JCW since it was 1 week old and it has been great with the exception of the factory pcv hose which the end is not round and has a tendency to pop off due to vibration.
I see you used screw type hose clamps (good) and you should check theset screws at the turbo. Couldn;t see m.
Get a turbo blanket ( about $25) from amazon=they work great.
