2009 jcw engine replacement

Ok I got some mini's but I aint no mechanic. Just bought a 2009 jcw and previous owner said the timing guides broken. We scoped it tonight and one of the value looks questionable. Worse case situation can I put a 2009 S motor in as a replacement? I can get them with 55k miles pretty cheap at insurance auction??

You are in the wrong place, I will move this to the Gen2 area.

The S and JCW engines have different ECU's and some other changes. I'm not sure it's a great idea. The link below is a salvage yard selling a JCW engine.....

Edit - Just realized that this is probably an N18 engine...so its not a good match for your 2009....

No you don't want to put an S engine in a JCW. The pistons among other parts are actually different so they will likely fail with the larger JCW turbo.
