JCW heads - any differences between years?
I have an 06 that I'd like to add a JCW head to. I found a JCW head from an 04 that's been cleaned and tested. I'm wondering if heads changed from the 200 HP version of the JCW kit to the 210 version on the 05/06 models. Will the 04 head fit an 06?

All the R53 JCW heads are the same 2002-2006 so you can install it no problem.
If it was in my shop I'd make sure to put new exh valve guides in it as these wear out all the time and much cheaper to do now rather than later.
Also good time to add our WMW mild cam as the labor will be free

WayMotorWorks is spot on. Do it before you go any further. Now is the time to do it and have the head checked for straightness. You don't want a head gasket issue.

All the guides wear out.
Don't waste your money on a JCW head, it's not worth it. The minor shallow port job on the exhaust side only does not justify the price.
Take your money and your head and send it off to Thumper and you see a much bigger return on your investment.

Could it be even worst if running low octane gas and have an aggressive tune? The truth is I have very little idea what constitute an aggressive tune. My guess is too much ignition advance, and or too little injector. Somebody please school me.

The craptastic guide clearances in the head from the factory. (Yes I still have a brand new OEM head)
Side loading of the valve due to a horribly designed rocker set-up that flexes and moves under hard use.
Can you prevent it? Sure, toss some good guides and valves with proper clearances in and pick up Jan's billet rocker set up and it'll fix most of the issues
