Brake squeak and squeal is the sound made when the pad vibrates against the pistons in the brake calliper, not the brake rotor.

Brake dragging would be caused by a stuck caliper and would cause heat and premature brake wear, but no noise.

 

with shims and grease my track pads still sing like a stuck pig, it's metal on metal it's gonna be loud. They only squeal when you are on the brakes, there is no vibration happening as they are clamping the rotor
