turns over but wont start

I have a 2004 cooper s mc40. The car will not start after it has been sitting long enough to completely cool down. If i turn the key to the on position and let it sit for about 5 minutes it starts right up. It starts fine every time after while it is still warm.

How do you get it started when it's completely cooled down? Not that this is your issue at all, but have you tested the battery?

I put the key to the on position for about 5 minutes. I have not tested the battery but it has no issues cranking.

Ok, so need a little more information. Do you turn it on the on position and just leave it on for 5 minutes and then start it fine? Or do you turn it off, turn it on, turn it off, turn it on, etc. The best thing to do would be to check fuel pressure on the cold start where it doesn't normally start. Fuel pressure should read 50 PSI (plus or minus 3 PSI). If that is in spec then perform a residual fuel pressure test. Residual fuel pressure after 20 minutes should be at least 30 PSI, when you turn on the key it should jump right up to 50 PSI. The fuel pressure test port is on the end of the fuel rail towards the driver side.

Ok so I would recommend what I posted about about checking fuel pressure on cold start.
