@Clutch Wotan - cool, what are those? Reminds me of TE-37s.

Finally getting around to some light updates on my 2016 JCW. Just picked up NM springs and 25 mm rear sway + end links. Have new RSe05 17” (40 mm offset) sitting in garage and trying to figure out between 215/45 and 225/45. Anyone running 225/45 with a drop? 5mm spacer needed or not? Leaning towards 225/45 just trying figure if I need to order the ecs spacer kit. Thanks!

I'm currently running 215/45-17 on RSe05s and there appears to be plenty of clearance. I'm getting ready to replace my current tires (Continental ExtremeContact Sport) and this time I'm going to move up to 225/45-17 ... I think there's plenty of room to handle them.

Can anyone help me with offset issues? I have a 2019 JCW (3 door) and can't figure out what the offset range is that I can use. Some people say 40 is too tight, but lots of wheel sites show me 40 as an option when I input my car details. What is the min-max I can look at?

Appreciate it!

The NM RSe05 has an offset of 45 (not 40) ... it's a very nice wheel that accommodates a 215/45-17 tire very well. It will also accommodate most 225/45-17 tires as well. The biggest issue I have with moving up to 225/45 is tire weight rather than clearance ... not sure the extra width will overcome the weight which will impact acceleration.

Non Mini (i.e VW) RSe05 are 17x8 and +45. The Mini/JCW RSe05 I ordered and received are 17x7.5 +40. That data is straight from NM and on their website and matches what I received. Maybe when you go yours the 17x7.5 were not an option? Either way - awesome rim with lots of flexibility. I decided to go 215/45 for the reason you describe, going to a bigger tire may not always be better unless I were to do a bunch of additional upgrades. Thanks!

Your are absolutely correct, they are +40 ... I just verified that. It is an awesome rim and and weight reduction that it provides is definitely noticeable.

I am. 225/40/18 on 18x7.5 wheel with 42 offset. I have BC coilovers and i basically have to have them at stock mini ride height to not rub. Also the fronts need the 4mm spacers that come with the kit. I think I'm gonna go 215/40/18 or 215/35/18 so I'm able to lower the car.

Yes I have. The beauty of a 3-piece wheel is you can get it made to what specs you want which is what I did. I measured the brake clearance, filled out the Work Wheels spec sheet and sent it to the factory and ordered the wheels so they for perfectly.

I went for 18's because 11 years running 35 series rubber on my R53 did my back no favors. 😄

I think @KuMa 's wheels are no longer one-off's.... anybody else try to order Giomic flow formed EX03-RC from Japan? I think I've found my wheel...in dark bronze... They look like they might be about $550/wheel though!

https://www.giomic.com/products-list/wheel/53512/

cool aero kits too:
https://www.giomic.com/products-list...xterior/11212/
https://www.giomic.com/products-list...xterior/11213/

And translated from Japanese:
By adopting the advanced flow forming manufacturing method that can finish with light weight and high rigidity, we succeeded in obtaining the basic performance that is not ashamed of the name of the sports wheel. The rough mesh design, which looks simple, is designed exclusively for MINI to create an illusion by connecting lines with different curvatures. Compatible with genuine hubcaps. Compatible with large calipers (compatible with JCW calipers)

Oz Hyper GT HLT Star Graphite

Finally settled on the Oz Hyper GTs for my JCW which have saved about 3kgs per corner of unsprung weight (total reduction was 11.58kgs). Replaced the standard 17 x 7.0 JCW Black Track Spokes (Code 2HY) which weigh between 11.02 and 11.15kgs each with the Oz 17 x 7.5. As I hate spacers and wanted an even fill of the arches front and rear, I used two different offsets ET41 at the front (weighing 8.02 and 8.08kgs) and ET35 at the rear (8.31 and 8.33kgs plus 20 grams each for each hub ring - only needed on the ET35).

The wheel bolts are quite heavy so will look to get some titanium replacements along with centre caps with JCW logo and red outline as per the originals (which are too small for the Oz wheels).

The ET41 clear the brakes by about the same margin as the Track Spokes, but give a little more strut clearance (the original Track Spokes are quite close. Drives well with them, just a little more self centring. Running standard ride height and Active Suspension.

225/45/17 Michelin Cup on full compression, the custom wheels show an offset of 40mm since ever and have been copied by MINI in size and offset, to use the best compromise 225.

A short reminder, the original fitted wheel on a JCW 7x17 weights 11 Kg, our 8x17 8,5 kg, with no spacers longer bolts, which funnywise weight extra too.

Some people like 19 or 18 inch wheels. I like 16 and 17.

you have 225 tires and lowered on 17x8 et40, any rubbing? (Looks lowered and if yes what suspension.)

after 5 years the rear tires have grooved in. The car is around 1,2 lower and was on a KW clubsport.

18x8 Sparco Assetto Gara w/ 225/50/18 General GMax AS05s. They fit w/o a spacer, but the base of the spokes comes bit close to the front caliper. Added 3mm to widen that gap and get the wheels flush. Lost ~12 pounds per corner from the black 18x7.5 Grip Spokes and runflat P7s.

It's a shame MINI USA doesn't offer any white wheels anymore, honestly.
