Unattached wire in engine bay
Hi all,
While replacing a broken dip stick, I noticed an orange electrical wire that had broken and was just hanging out. Can anyone tell me what this wire does, or where I could find a helpful electrical map for the engine bay? See the images for gradual zooms to the wire.
Thanks!

I would remove the tape and see if the other side of the wire is hidden away up the loom a bit.
That wire is to the JCW Airbox diverter valve, when active it opens the diverter and allows a more aggressive sound come from the intake. "Flap is activated at 4,500 rpm to let out more noise"
Motor on!

Yes that is for the solenoid in the JCW airbox to allow the vacuum from the engine to activate the flap in the JCW box. It won't hurt anything to have it not working.
Commonly we remove the flap so the box runs open all the time so that is an option, or you can repair the wire.
