Cravenspeed Big Pair

Anyone put these on their car yet? They definitely look beefier than the stock pair.

Interesting....... They list the F56(S) , wonder if they add anything to the F56 JCW to tighten it up

The plates appear to be the same on the S and JCW. I think I'm going to give them a try.

I am very interested to hear confirmation of JCW fitment, as we have not had the opportunity to see one up on the rack yet. Of course, if there is an issue with fitment, know that we will resolve it or refund you.

I put them on my 2016 JCW yesterday. They fit fine. The instructions state to use T40 but I needed a T45 is all.

Huge difference on my F56. The stock stamped steel pieces aren't worth the metal they're made of.

I'm surprised that all F56 JCW buyers don't get the free sport suspension Mini offers. You probably wouldn't need to spend $200 on these. I wish I could have got it free. It was a $500 option on my Coupe, and I realize I have a different, stiffer chassis and body than the R56 (it's from the convertible Roadster), and maybe I don't need it, but IMO you shouldn't have to spend extra money like this to get good cornering on a JCW model. It's like those additions to the body kit people buy. You already paid for a body kit, why more?

The "Big Pair"isn't the same as the free sport suspension. These are chassis braces, they provide added rigidity and a more positive feel in the corners. I would have opted for the sport suspension if I purchased a F56 JCW and still installed the big pair.

I have the sport suspension and the Big Pair was one of my first mods. Soon though, the only thing left of the sport suspension will be the shocks/struts. I'm replacing everything else with NM components.
I do however highly recommend the Big Pair. Nice improvement for a relatively small price.

actually, they look like the sit bellow the cars native lowest point, can you confirm spacing? I've got lowering springs ordered and I don't want to be speedhumping it out.

If they end up being the lowest point, it's insignificant. It doesn't strike me as being a problem: if you're going to hit bottom with the Big Pair on, you'd hit bottom without it.

I don't remember anyone adding these on the F56 forums. A lot of people put these weird braces bolted under the hood which I thought was pretty dumb. These make more sense right on the chassis. Too bad they don't have them for the Gen2 cars.

They don't have these per say for the Gen 2 but Way has this and it was amazing how much a difference it made for my R56!

Cool! Seems like a similar concept to the Big Pair, although more unweidy. What do you feel it improves on the car? My Coupe supposedly has a more rigid frame because it is the same as the convertible Roadster, and a mysteriously stiffer body too. I wonder how much difference it would make. I never heard about this thing.

Well for an example going out of the driveway before it all four wheels would pretty much touch but with the part on you will be three wheeling. The whole car seems stiffer. When taking corners hard the car will stay planted in its place longer. It was one of my favorite suspension mods after the sway bay.

The Coupe doesn't need braces but the HT does.

I would be miserable driving a HT on a daily basis with all the flex from the cabin.

With the weather turning nice again I spent a good week hitting the curves and such with the Big Pair installed. I will say it is a noticeable difference. Feels like the back end is coming around quicker now. Great upgrade for the price. On a side note, I could flex the stock braces by hand.

I just tried installing these. Had no problem with the bigger one but the bolts on the smaller one wouldn't budge. Looks like they are welded on. I'm I the only one who is/had this problem?
I contacted Cravenspeed, so waiting on a reply.

Soak the bolt heads overnight with Kroil or another penetrating oil. Use a 6 point socket with a breaker bar or slip a pipe over the end of your ratchet to give you more leverage. They're not welded other than probably corrosion. If you live in an area that gets snow and ice and drive your Mini during the winter then chances are you'll have some corrosion. In the first picture the galvanized bracket looks corroded to me.
