Just received my JCW. Complete with JCW blind ring and piano black interior. The JCW blind ring is harder to pull the Cooper ring. Got it off though - I is stiffer at the top and you have to stick a small tool under the top back from the side to lift the tabs clear.
I must admit the car misses the color of the JCW ring. Looks almost boring with out it.
I might paint the new (non JCW) ring or add a red band using vinyl.. Not sure what but will post pics when I have done it.
I wouldn't mind having the JCE ring on my MCS. It would go well with the JCW interior package IMO. But, at $114 it's not worth it to me. If someone wants to swap for a plain ring let me know.
Personally, the center ring, JCW style, is like many other things that after a time, you get use to it. The first time that I saw a factory JCW and the center ring, I thought just how gaudy it looked. Now after seeing many JCW interiors, and then one with the standard center ring, the plain ring looks out of place. Just my thoughts.
Hows the new JCW drive and operate for you Greg? Hard to ask this, but was it worth the wait? Happy motoring!

Can not tell you how happy I am. This is the car I wanted all along and so far it is running perfectly. I love the seats and want to put my mark on it but will drive it through the winter first. It was worth the wait! Thanks for asking!

That's worth its. I am glad you have it where you want.
After living with the JCW for a few months now, I rather enjoy the slightly flagrant ring graphics. it simply adds more charisma to the car, along with reminding me just to enjoy it and have fun and not take things so seriously.
I totally understand if someone doesn't like it; I'll say I wasn't totally floored with it at first....but now I dig it.
I like the ring after I saw it in person. In the photos it did look like there was allot going on in the interior especially with the dash chrono pack.
How did you remove this Blind ring after pulled out the rivets?
Joacim
If you have trouble you might have to put a small plastic pry bar under the to of the ring and raise it slightly them pull it forward. It has small tabs that hold it at the back. If you can't get it off I'll post a pic of the tabs so you can understand.
Good luck!

The ring come off without problems at the bottom, but how is it connected at the top?
My 2015 (September) JCW (UK model) came with a blank ring? Which I much prefer.
Again no mention of it being an option, think it may well be one of the things they have dropped of the spec like the secret storage in the dash.

Just been looking at a dealer web site in the uk, every JCW from September onwards comes with a blank ring. Almost sure this points to it being dropped for the 2016 year model onwards.
May 2015 model has it, anything from September on doesn't.
Still available from Mini USA also. My dealer parts guy just ordered it for me for $90. I'll just have them swap it while it's in for the crankshaft bearing re-call.
Intrestingly, I've heard on good authority, starting with March production (which will bring all sorts of changes), the black ring will be an orderable option instead of the JCW ring on the 3rd gen JCW models.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I like the graphics on the JCW center ring....especially when I set my tachometer to the light ring. How does that work if the graphics are removed? Yes, it actually "works"!
I'm all for keeping the interior clean without "glitz & bling" but the center ring is NOT a problem whatsoever as originally produced.
To clarify, the JCW ring will still be standard, but you can option the plain piano black ring instead.
I, personally, also like the JCW ring. Adds some extra flair and lets people know you drive a JCW!
I got that.....just seems strange that MINI was so quick to address the center ring debate yet turned a deaf ear to the wheel option problem on the JCW......why not give owners more options?....now, according to you, there'll will be less choice! Wheels are more important than a plastic center ring don't you think?
I think the center ring issue was caused by a lack of stock of the graphic ring so MINI simply substituted the plain ring....then the debate began.
And when will MINI "ever" correct the errors on wheel & tire sizes on the configuration? It "still" says the 18" cup spoke wheel is 7.5" wide (when its clearly 7")..... one reason I chose it was for the larger diameter & wider width.
OK rant over! :-)

In fact so easy ......I pulled it while driving.....of the loaner! All back now though :-)
I tried to get mine out and about broke my finger nails. Would not budge. Also, my pins look flat and do not have the two tier look as the one you picture. There appears to be a center piece that sits flush on mine. Maybe they are inserted as a two tier plug as pictured, and then the center portion is pushed in to lock the plug in place.
To get mine out I'd have to use a putty knife or flat blade to force it out, but am afraid I will break something since the center part is forcing the flanges of the plug to stay in place.
