JCW Pricing

According MINI USA's ordering guide, a decently optioned F56 JCW will be around $38K. It's a steep prices for a MINI, don't you think?

I'm thinking mine will be priced around $34-35k I went on the Cooper S Configurator and added the stuff I wanted besides LED headlights and seats. I only had right at $4k in add ons. So that's not to bad.

Apples and oranges. The GTI has a lot of HP, but that interior is straight outta the 80s. I was looking for the ashtray and the cassette player lol. No options either. You'd better like black!

Nice. But you have to get a used one because there are no plans to GP the F56 are there? I'm not selling my JCW Coupe anytime soon, but I bet this JCW is badass. Not a bad deal either. You get bodykit, brakes, bigger turbo/tuning, cool Recaro-like seats, wheels and LED headlights, steering wheel/shift boot all for about 7 grand. Cheap!

I disagree.

Base price is $6500 more, but you get everything the Cooper S has plus:
- LED Headlights
- 17" Wheels
- Aero kit
- JCW interior kit: anthracite headliner, aluminum pedals, red stitched perforated steering wheel, red stitching on shifter
- Rear spoiler

All standard - plus the following performance upgrades over the S:

- Re-tuned performance 2.0L engine pushing out 39 more horses and 29 more ft/lb of torque
- Bigger brakes with red calipers
- Beefier exhaust
- Recaro style seats standard
- Sport suspension standard (yes, you can get this on the S, but it's an extra cost)

PLUS, all the JCW exclusive cosmetics
- Available Chili Red roof/mirror caps
- different speedo/tach/light ring trim
- Different gearshift levers
- Rev meter and gear display on HUD if equipped
- Available sport gauges

All this from the factory and covered by the MINI warranty.

Seems like a good deal to me...

Value is the real question. I have had a lot of sports cars over the years, and none of them have been more fun than the mini! Some of them were 3 times the price of the mini and I loved them too. But, to repeat none of them were/are more fun. Nothing is more fun in twisties than the mini. But, value is a personal judgement.

I agree. I don't see the value in a new Mini that cost damn near twice what I paid for my new '13 Justa Hardtop.

It's a great deal for $6500. And the price didn't go up from mine either. And you'll get the Recaro-like seats and LED headlights and sport suspension (that cost me about $4000 extra) all included. This is definitely more of a track car then the F56 I can tell you that. They don't sell very many of them (I figured they sold maybe 50 JCW Coupes like mine in the US in 2014) but they are not overpriced for what you get.

I just met with my dealer the standard transmission is not available to order till June.
- Gauge set not available to order till July
When you order the gauge set in Canada you can not get the rear camera or backup sensors. They are only available with the heads up display (as part of a package).
- The Recaro seats are $2500
- Leather seats like the S are $1500
- Cloth Recaro's are free

Canadian or US dollars? HUD and PDR are neat. I have never had a factory PDR, but I have the HUD and really like it. It took some getting used to, but I really love it now.

Canadian. Packages in the US may differ. I might go with the hud then add gauges. I had really nice aftermarket ones in my r56.

I came very close to a minimally optioned JCW once again... MINI number 4... but fell back into a well-optioned S in the end... a very good value, no question. I just couldn't QUITE. I still have the envies tho.

Looking at photos of the JCW. What is with the ugly "clock like" marks around the central display. OMG that thing is in no way a speedo - so why pretend? I must say the design is really off the tracks in some of the small details. The way the HUD integrates into the dash, the round central display that has rectangular shapes "stuffed" in it...and now on the JCW the marks around the edge. The car is starting to look like some of the Japanese motorcycles from the early 70's they never exported!
In design form should follow function IMO.

I am waiting to price the hatch with the standard transmission when it becomes available. I am figuring closer to 40 for what I want based upon what I have been able to glean to-date. If you add the recaro seats and a lot of bells and whistles it goes up pretty quickly. Mini tried the higher dollar hatches before with the Blackwood edition and wound up discounting them deeply to move them. I think I want the 18" wheels and a few other add up options, the HUD and the PDR possibly. But, since the standard won't be available until sometime this fall I will probably wait for the 2016 model.

That would be very hard to do. Mine was $40k with the Recaros. I'm only missing the NAV, auto AC, and comfort access I think. So maybe $43k with those options.

MY current 2012 JCW was about 32K new. It only had a few options other than it was the JCW. I love the way it drives and handles. I don't drive it that much, mostly club touring and performance driving. It only had 22,500 miles + or - and is in great shape. I just want a new toy with more power. I have read the reviews on the new 6 hatch and for the most part they are positive. I am waiting for the auto JCW to drive it and see how I like it. I have the auto on the C7 and I like it for touring, and daily driving, but if I were going to track it on a regular basis I would have gotten the standard. However, it is too much car for an O. F. like me on the track! Fun cruiser though.

I didn't keep any of the estimates, is there a way to figure out what the car costs back then, now? Go back to MINIUSA 2009?

I don't think so, but the base price hasn't changed much over the years. I forgot the hatchback you can opt for a sunroof (I have a Coupe, not an option), and the garage door opener thingy (I can't get that either), so maybe add NAV(2k), comfort (150?), SR(1200?), garage(150) auto AC (250?) to my 40 and you get about $43,500 all loaded up. And I got a couple grand knocked off mine.

I found the original MSRP on my 2012, it was 31,100. They added the JCW floor mats, interior/exterior protection package(dealer markup) , full racing stripes, Sirius satellite for a year and the final deal was 32,500. I was hoping to get the new one for around 40K with the 18" wheels, upgraded interior, not the recaro, HUD and PDR and maybe navigation. That way I don't have to stick my trusty, ancient Garmin NUVI on the windscreen. However, if it adds enough that it takes it out of what I am willing to pay range I will do without it. If they have a stock one towards the end of the model year I might be able to get a better deal. I really like the dealership though, they have great service and for the most part knowledgeable sales staff.

$54000!!!

built a new fJCW convertible (can't build a FJCW hardtop yet in the states) , they are $4000 more than a hardtop so subtract that.
Couldn't add some things that my car has, JCW rear spoiler $700, Mini GPS steering wheel mount $400(?)

Just got back from the auto show. Saw the JCW in person.
Couple of things about it. The engine looks just like an mcs. Infact it could actually be one as the car is probably just a show car. No jcw branding. The red stripes on the Recaro seat strips look way less red in person. The seats on the show car are not nearly as nice as my mcs seats - they were also really banged up looking (wear badly) and have a cheap suede finish. They stripes are nice but they do not look like $2500 worth at all.
The doors sills on the jcw street body colored and look painted. They really get scratched from you feet. I. the Cooper S sills look nicer because there is that dark contrast. The jcw's look cheaper.
The 3 sport gauges are really cheap and are really plastic looking. I would get aftermarket if you want to go this way.
The wheel gap is not addressed on the JCW and is still IMO a design flaw. Wheels are too small period.
Once again the center console bezel has the weird (for no actual reason)
lines around it.
The dark green color is pretty great with the red roof.
