JCW Battery Disconnect Question
2013 Seat Swap and battery question.
I am going to replace the seats in my 2013 JCW this weekend. As required the battery will need to be disconnected. Is there a code required once the battery is reconnected? I see that older Mini's do require a code, and do not see any codes in the Owners documents. Radio is just a base line model.
Just a question so that I can have all my ducks lined up prior to starting.
Thank You
Having owned BMW's in the past, I am familiar with the process. I'm also familiar that with some BMW's the security access code has to be entered prior to car start, or it locks the whole car out. That was a cold day out in the garage, with the dealer on the phone, talking me through the security reset procedure.

Update.
The seats were swapped out yesterday. They are the black lounge leather seats with white piping. Front and rear seats were replaced.
The seats came from a 2009 Clubman S that had been totaled. They were in used condition and required some TLC with a heat gun, iron, and some leather cleaner to get them back to install condition. The seats remediated really well.
The removal and install went well, but the car threw the dreaded Airbag Warning Lights, despite the precautions taken to preclude the issue. Many thanks to all here who have posted threads on the issue.
It turned out that the passenger seat from a 2009 Clubman S either does not have a seat position sensor, or it was removed in this case. If it was removed the wiring harness was modified also which I suspect not, as it as different part number than the drivers side harness , which does support the seat position sensor.
Luckily that big yellow connector on the bottom of the seat is a modular harness assembly, so it can be taken apart and the three separate harnesses that make it up can be changed independent of a single large connector. I swapped out the "Seat Heater OC3" harness with the one from the seat I removed, installed a seat position sensor, also removed from the original seat, put everything back together and all was well when the battery was reconnected and the car started. No alarms, all seat functions are normal and the heaters work.
I also changed out the seat heater controllers on both seats with the ones from the seats I removed. I suspect that over time there have been architectural revisions to the controller boards, despite having the same part number, and was correct. The 2009 controllers worked, but they took a little time to come up to temp. The 2013 parts come up to temp much quicker. I suspect a power saver upgrade.
I did disassemble the original 2013 passenger seat just in case it was the seat sensor that needed replacement. I removed the lower seat cushion assembly to get at the sensor, but that part is very integrated into the seat cushion itself, so I left it there. It's not worth the $$$$ today to get it and the seat heater out. If it breaks someday, then I'll go after it.
Bottom line is that after spending a week researching, looking at Real OEM, and validating that all the part numbers were the same between the 2013 seats and the 2009 seats, in the end they weren't.
Should anyone want to swap seats in a Mini, with Mini OEM seats, my experience would indicate that both seats, original and replacement, be flipped over and very carefully compared for like for like compatibility.
Getting those "leatherette seats" out and replacing them with Lounge Leather is a huge improvement. Both in comfort and appearance.
Many thanks to all that have posted here through the years on the subject. It made my project a success, and saved me a lot of $$$$. At least $1200.00+.
Thank you.
