Was told today by the shop I am going to looks like my mini is going to have to have a new motor. YIKES so glad I bought an extended warranty! Anyways anybody got a line on a new engine?

For a first gen... yes I have one for sale.
For second gen... sorry.

But - if warranty is taking care of it - why are you looking? Shouldn't it come new directly from the dealer?

 

The warrenty company usually provides $$$$ parts......
I would not bother looking....that's why you pay a shop and warrenty for...
Hopefully they will work in your best interest....
And one tip....do not be surprised if you "new" motor is just a "different" motor....
A used car with a used motor came into the shop...so installing a good used part would not be uncommon for most non mini dealer sold warranties.....

 

Because I'm curious. ..I like to do my research. .and well its an aftermarket warranty...car only has 48k miles on..and I have only put like 600 miles on the car myself...so I hope they don't think that I knew something was wrong with it from the start a d tell me to go fly a kite. .The car ran great on the way home as far as I could tell...then I started driving back and forth to work and then starting getting problems...check engine light...shop replaced spark plugs, then coil pack, then it came back a day later...took it back..they ended up finding coolant in the cylinders...so now they are digging deeper. ..crazy thing car didn't smoke...I donno really has me thrown for a loop...should know more today..

Totally understand that they would like to put a used motor in...but finding a used factory JCW engine? That will probably be a tough one to find.

We'll looks like the engine is definitely going to have to be replaced..again looking for a JCW engine for an 2009.

New engine arrived yesterday! Hopefully I get my mini back Monday!

 

Just curious, are they changing it to a n18 or still a n14?
