so a couple weeks ago i was determined to buy an R53 Mini, '05-06 to be specific. i went on a 400mi road trip to buy a heavily modified one, and while it was a fairly clean and quick car, it just was a bit too much of a project for me. i did a search on autotrader and found this one 300 MORE miles away, and so i went and bought it, and drove the 600mi home lol.

it was immaculate, well maintained/documented, one owner, EVERY option but NAV, etc etc. the real bonus was it has the full JCW kit(engine, brakes, suspension), and the price was right.

now im still slowly getting used to the blue/silver interior, peeling off the vinyl one bit at a time, and hunting down a different set of wheels.

my question is this: did all factory JCW cars also come with the Aero kit? perhaps mine doesnt have said Aero because it also has the checkmate package? the way Mini packages things confuses me. im honestly surprised they even offered the Checkmate package on anything that wasn't blue and/or silver

 

My '06 JCW does not have the aero. Also has only select options ordered (ie no sunroof, multi function wheel, or heated seats, but has Panther leather, R99's, HID, cf dash).

If I have my way the Aero front bumper and side skirts will be fitted this summer. Maybe the rear spoiler too but not the rear bumper lol.

I'll also probably track down a set of black seats and a JCW steering wheel.

Clearly, I don't like the checkmate pack. Just the LSD
