JCW 2012 JCW vs. 2012 Golf R something I have to consider
Of my seats? Hold on....sorry for bad quality. Using iPhone.
I'm guessing you want to see if they are US or Euro Spec? I assumed they were US Spec but I could be wrong of course.

The WRX is available as a 5 door wagon, but the WRX STi is only available as a sedan.
And I am no MINI expert but those seats pictured are not the Recaros I was referring too, they appear to be the sport seats.
Here's a link to the ones I am referring to.

Ahhh, the standard sport seats. When you said:
I got my JCW with the black non-leather Recaros as I'm not a fan of leather seats. After driving around in them for 5K miles, I really like the seats.
There's a new Recaro seat option--but it's a different design than the one that's been available overseas for years. It'll be electrically adjustable and heated. A few hundred more tha Championship Lounge Leather.
Do you have any more info? I don't mind if they're manual but the ROW JCW Recaros do have heating elements and airbags in them. They're only missing the pass. side pressure sensor.
I cracks me up when people point out other cars as being maintenance nightmares while owning a MINI....
Seriously, all modern cars have quirks. If maintained properly and treated halfway decently, most of them will last a long time.

Went to the VW dealer last weekend, Salesman told me they pre-sold the 15 allotted Golf Rs they have coming and 5 more people are trying to order them and VW hasn't even responded to them. Your chance of getting one is shrinking quick if you wanted one!
Either way you go you will be happy, JCW and R are both amazing cars. But I might go for the R, partly because I've been reading about Revo's tuning packages that easily bring the R up to around 320+/- hp. (Don't quote me on that, though). Also the R is brand new and very rare
. I think it looks cool, too.
Now that golf r deliveries are happening, I spent some time this weekend revisiting my JCW order. My JCW won't be in until March, so I could easily cancel the order and go find a golf r (sometime in the summer when the cars are being discounted like the previous R32s).
I've decided to keep my JCW order. The only thing the R will have that I'd like on my JCW is AWD. I currently drive a MKIV R32, and I like it, but my intent with this car purchase is to get back to a lighter, more minimalistic driving experience. For the money, I can't think of another car that will give me what I'm looking for, other than a JCW. Still, it's fun watching the delivery threads over on the vortex. Can't wait to start one of my own here.

Good luck finding a discounted R...

Cars do not reach the dealer until Feb. Like I already stated most of the dealers have pre-sold all their allotted cars and have a waiting list (dealers in Denver and Colorado Springs I know for a fact they have). The Golf R are selling a lot better than the R32 has ever sold, you are not going to find a discounted new R, that is wishful thinking.

Emich in Denver said early Feb late Jan. I guess it takes the boat a few more weeks to make it to the west coast.
Canadian site just posted a first review of the Golf R... The wheels are obviously cheapo alloys with snow tires, but otherwise the car looks about as dull as a Golf can get. Am I the only one that is underwhelmed?

Did anyone on this site actually order one?
As an aside, the new Fiesta ST looks pretty decent... I would much prefer something that looks like this over a Golf R or Fiat 500 Abarth

Sorry that wouldn't be for me.
Go with the R56 all day. Everyone else grab a tissue.
Don't apologize as you are the one who is owed an apology by the ill mannered juveniles here. When the 200+HP/220 lbs tq Venom factory upgrade comes out later this year for the 2500 lb Abarth at under $30k I wonder what kind of insecure insults will be cast about here by the NAMzies.

Seems like most of the comments I've seen have been of those individuals who see nothing more than 'entry-stats' and hasn't actually set foot in one.
In the Denver area, there's already two local owners that both have a Golf R (3-door and 5-door) and are enjoying every minute.
Is the interior a little more subdued than MINI, sure... But the powertrain, material selection, fit-and-finish, and aftermarket support are stellar.
Without poking, making fun, or making this into an online jousting match (because there's such a thing to be had), I do challenge you to drive one.
Because in all fairness, if it came down to my JCW R55 or the Golf R, ...well it would be the Golf.
Being the .:R is in it's third edition, the important parts are there like the award winning engine platform and Haldex AWD system, and not much of unnecessary fluff.
There's so much support and more open-source support than the MINI / BMW platform; plus parts are cheaper!

walk, have you been able to put your hands on one?

If a car doesn't bring joy or excitement to the prospecting owner, it's not the right vehicle for them.
And getting a driver into a vehicle purely on trim and amenities is what most companies shoot for first.
