Difference between R56 S and JCW front bumper?

I just bought a front bumper cover advertised as a jcw and now that I have it out of the box, it looks identical to the one that came on my 2010 S. Is there a difference?

they are different for sure.

is it possible that the person sold the bumper off a JCW with a regular S bumper and claimed it was a JCW bumper?

i ask because my JCW came with the regular S bumpers and i later upgraded to the JCW bumpers.

hopefully an honest mistake on the sellers part, hope he didn't try to hose you.

In the following pics you can see all 3 of the pre 2011 front/rear bumpers...

Standard on the 2009 Mellow Yellow JCW
JCW Aero kit on my 2009 Laser Blue JCW
Factory Aero kit on the Dark Silver 2008 MCS

Thanks. Yeah, looks like it was misrepresented - he's a member here as well. I bought it on eBay and paid through paypal. I think it can be settled...

All JCW cars come with the regular front bumper, unless you get the Aero Package and then it looks different. The dealer will add almost 4K for that package. You can even have the Aero kit on a Mini S as well.

So clear this up, the front bumper of a Mini Cooper S and Mini Cooper JCW is exactly the same on the same years, unless they have the Aero Kit.

The Aero kit is not just for the JCW, as stated above.

Hope this will clear it up. For more information, the delear would be place to ask as well.

My add said, i am sealing a 2009 Mini Cooper R56 JCW front Bumper and several pictures was also listed from front sides and back.

Sorry to say, that you were looking to an Aero kit and i did not mention i am selling a Aero front bumper. There is nothing to settle here. You made a mistake on the purchase and yes i have been a member on this forum as well.

If i did make the mistake i will take it back, but it said an R56 JCW front bumper and pictures were provided.

Looks like you did not know the look difference before you purchased it.

Sorry, i can help you to bet almost a cost price if interested through a friends shop.

Here is the response from the buyer as he opened up a case for dispute. Does this make any sense? Does it look like i am selling a Aero front bumper kit? It clearly states JCW front bumper 2009 and picture, more pictures was provided on ebay as well.

[FONT=arial,sans-serif]Dear empire0007,

Yeah, it arrived. Problem is this is not a jcw front bumper.

I forgot to mention that, in the ebay add, i also indicated that i had taken the OEM front JCW bumper out and replaced it by the Aero front bumper. SO THE BUYER WOULD AUTOMATICALY KNOW WHY I AM SELLING THIS ALMOST NEW BUMPER

Technically...
The bumper you sold is NOT a JCW bumper. It is an R56 bumper that is standard issue on a Cooper S an a JCW car from the factory.

The driver door is the same on a Cooper S and the Factory JCW...doesn't mean it is a JCW Door!

The exhaust in a Cooper S is different than a JCW factory car, NOW this means it is a JCW part, has a different part number and is distinguishable as standard on a JCW factory car...it is IN FACT a JCW part.

A JCW bumper is one that comes with the JCW Aero Kit and is sold as an accessory by MINI.

Two faults here...
1. Should not have been listed as a JCW part.
2. Buyer should have looked closer at the part and asked questions before purchasing.

Thank you Jim. The buyer did ask a number of questions which the insecure seller failed to post with the rest of his diatribe.
I actually just needed a bumper replacement due to some parking lot damage and having a JCW part would have been a bonus. I also managed not to air the seller's name here. Seems he did it on his own and felt the need to be a real jackass.
Since we've gone public and all, I'll be closing the eBay case even though I could press the point that I do not have a JCW part.

At least I have the satisfaction of know my S model came with JCW window switches.

I have a question for you. I have a 2009 JCW, grey like your mcs. It has the same bumper and grill as your grey mcs. So is that the stock aero bumper that they put on the jcw in 2009? or is it not an aero bumper? I tried to replace the grill trim and I bought a jcw trim but the lower doesn't fit. Thanks

Which part are you referring to? I'll post a pick so you can point it out:

I think I might have figured it out. So my 09 jcw has the factory aero kit on it ( not the jcw aero). I was trying to replace the chrome grill trim with black, but the bottom part (#13 on that schematic) does not fit. So i guess in 09 that was the only aero kit and you could get it on mcs and jcw from the factory??

Ahhhhh I see. So if I understand right, you have the Aero bumper, Like the Gray MINI from the pictures above on Onefish2's post? If so, I don't think there is a black option for that one.

No. Look at Post #3. Each splitter is molded to fit the matching bumper.
