It seems like for the most part everyone is getting the one Y-cable packaged with the owners manual.

Please let us know if the dealer doesn't resolve this for you. I'll probably take delivery of mine sometime in the next 7 days and I'm half expecting the dealer to try and stiff me.

I have one question for those who have convience package with mini connected with center armrest:
Do you connect your iPhone in the center armrest without using y cable (so extra y cable to connect iPod) or you have to connect using y cable ?

the wiring is built into the armrest.
that said, I have the option but I never use it. I prefer the y-cable to a dashboard mount for my phone — easier to use the phone to look up things, use apps, etc. (when stopped, of course)

So I just learned something yesterday that I DIDN'T know. For those of you that haven't taken delivery yet. If you were under the impression that checking the MINI connected option would get you the a snap in adapter for your iPhone in the armrest you are wrong. You have to pay extra for that snap in adapter. THAT is why the car is supposed to come with the Y-cable.

So I sprung for the snap-in adapter. I want to keep mine tucked out of sight.

I cannot comment about what the convenience package includes--didn't order that one. However I did get the armrest (because it was required) just like everyone else who ordered MINI Connected. I assumed that "smartphone integration" and "wired armrest" meant that I would have an armrest with a cradle ready to go right at delivery. This is in fact not the case. I do have a prewired armrest but that's all it is. Just ready to accept the snap in adapter.

Again, I can't comment on what your Convenience package gets you.

The price I got over here was around 150 USD. Pretty pricey for a cradle for just one phone model .

I received the Video/Audio Adapter part # 61122179623 today from the dealership . Works as advertised although the video seems to be out of sync with the audio but nonetheless it works !! Has anyone else tried their cable(s) and/or snap in adapter yet?

I ordered the Convenience package and the iPhone cradle for center armrest does not come with it (at least I didn't receive it and was told that I'll need to buy it separately)

biggripper: do you have the iPhone 3gs?
From what I understand the cradle for iPhone 4 won't be available till April!

yeah the video and audio are out of sync. I talked to one of the engineers from BMW/MINI about it and he was aware of this.

Yes I have the 3GS. I'll hold off upgrading until after the next gen is out. My contract is done w AT&T in October, so I'll probably hold off until then. I figure I should always be able to sell the cradle on the market place.

so are they planning to fix it anytime soon?
Btw, I am supposed to receive a call from my dealer today for the arrival of my LONG waited mini. I wonder if they could back up what they promised.
We will see.

Well at least that's one of us. My MINI is now BACK at the port to get the JCW aero kit they were supposed to put on. Dealer has been absolutely worthless as far as keeping me up-to-date on the status of my car. Now, because they were unable to have the car ready when I was available to fly and pick it up. I'm going to need to have it shipped to my door (most likely).

Yup. I totally agree with dealers being "worthless" with what they are supposed to do. I am very agitated with my dealer's incompetency of following up and never getting done one thing right at first place although I numerously remind them. I just spoke to my dealer again and now they decided to blame on Custom for not releasing vehicle. So no delivery today and may not get delivered by the end of this month.

So there goes this months special again...

A word to anyone having trouble getting video playback in their Mini. Just tested my video playback and was unable to get the video, but did receive audio. Was quite frustrating as I went through the owner manual and iPod/Mini settings. Finally discovered the problem was with the Y-cable. The aux connector is loose when I plug it into the console adapter. If it gets bumped or turned a little one way or another, the video gets garbled or completely quits. This may explain why audio playback has frozen at times and reset the iPod. I am going to contact the dealership to get their input. Yeah, my expectations are appropriately adjusted.

On a side note, the video does require the parking brake to be engaged on my manual as stated by others. I did talk with a place that does Mini tuning, and they suggest that a hack will be available soon to disable this function. (not holding my breath) Now, before anyone is concerned about me flying down the road watching Code Monkeys, the desire is specifically for the wife so she can watch movies when we take a long cruise. Even so, it would still be certainly illegal in CA.
