JCW Aerokit folks who had the kit installed at port

How'd you get it done at port? Was there an additional charge for this?

What did you have to tell your dealer to get them to do this?

I find myself having to sell my Mellow MCS and get a new one with an automatic transmission. Since it looks like the jcw stage 1 kit for automatics have been discontinued I wanted to get the jcw aero kit instead.

Thanks for your help.

My JCW aero kit was put on at the port, but that was 3 years ago. I'm not sure if the process is still the same. The car was ordered with the aero kit as an option. The car shipped over with the stock panels and they were swapped out for the kit on this side of the pond, at port of entry (not at the dealer). In this scenario, you do not have a right to the stock panels. If you were to take delivery of the car, then have the dealer install the kit, you would, I believe, have a right to the stock panels. I wanted to go that way, except I have no place to store them. The cost was whatever the accessory cost was at the time; no extra installation cost.

i went by what miniusa was telling me. they nolonger allow you to choose the stage 1 kit when you have automatic selected.

also this would be for the face lifted (newer engine) so who knows how long it will take them to get it epa cert.

was it just a matter of asking the dealer to have it installed at port vs at the dealer?

If you order it when you place the order it will be installed at port. If you want to keep the original parts then order through parts dept after you order the car. Either way the cost of installation is not included. The cost for port/VDC install is about 700.00 at dealer it may be more as they will also charge for paint. Some JCW aero kits can be ordered prepainted but color selection is limited. I ordered my 2010 JCW without the kit, then ordered kit through parts dept. cost for kit was 1436.95. I'll have it painted and then install myself so I'll have the original parts to keep or sell.

I was quoted $2700 if I want the kit installed at the port. Mellow MCS- let me know what you decide-I'm interested to know.
