JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 1st Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
Here are a couple pictures of my Baby!!!
It just broke 100,000 miles, it's an 03 (doesn't look quite right does it.)
It's more GP than Cooper S thanks to my GP's untimely passing. It not only has all of the body kit but I also transplanted the drivetrain and all of the suspension. It's almost like a new car, however it has confused a couple of people.
Here's mine She's an '06 Factory JCW with 46k on the clock. I had the first "S" in Indiana back in '02 (according to my dealer) and am SO glad to be back in a Mini after several years away from them.
I already blacked out the aftermarket chrome grille, fixed the way too long antenna, and she goes in for tint next week
So I picked up this 08 MCS Convertible JCW edition 3 weeks ago. It only has 11,000 miles on it with every option known to man including navigation. I wish I knew how rare this is especially since 08 hard tops switched to the turbo and they kept the SC in the convertibles. Only driven it 4 times so far and love it. Waiting for the temps in Maine and the snow to stop to take her out again.

Nice! I've got an '06 full JCW with aero kit. You'll love the car. A piece of advice. The top is prone to wearing at the rear corners and at the sides, just above the rear of the driver's and passenger's windows. These two areas some in contact with each other when the top is down. I had my top replaced once under warranty. The replacement started to show signs of wearing in the same way so I completely stopped the wear by putting a folded over bit of black felt, roughly 5" x 5" folded, between the two halves just before the top goes completely down. Yes, it's a pain. But I've completely prevented the holes from wearing. I keep them in the left rear of the trunk. When I'm getting ready to drive, I lean in, put the key in, turn it on and then thumb the two front windows down. I then reach up and start the top going back. When it's back a couple inches, I stand up and reach in from the top and continue putting the top down until it's nearly down. Then walk back, whip open the trunck and place the felt at the corners. Then I complete the top down. If there's no wind, I can simply stick the felt on the rear of the top first and then climb in and put the top down.
Or course, when the top goes up, you need to retrieve them. And I keep a couple spares with me in case one blows away while putting the top up or down. I've never had one come out, though, while driving. And you don't notice them there either. (That's why you use black felt.)
Not that I ever heard of. The '06 thru '08 cars were identical. I believe Mini/BMW stopped any further development of the 1st gen car because they were working on the 2nd gen car. I did hear that the 2nd gen car is better with respect to top wear, but don't know if it's really so.
In any case, I prefer the 1st gen car with it's more direct road feel and the lovely supercharger whine.
