JCW Shifter and Vallet

I'm considering getting the JCW Shift ****, boot, e-brake, and brake boot but I'm worried about a Vallet confusing 6th for R

Any one have problems with this?

I honestly will never let a valet park my car, but if you tend to use valet parking, then that would be a definite concern. I have a soon-to-be-installed Whalen **** with no shift pattern, and nobody unfamilar with my car will be driving it unless I am in the car. Even with the shift pattern I would be worried, since many people who are familar with manual transmissions still wouldn't expect reverse to be located where it is on the Mini, and they would probably assume it is where 6th is located without looking at the ****.

Carry a card with the shift pattern on it. Set it on the dash when you use a valet.

it seems like german cars typically have the reverse up and to the left.... so does the FJ cruiser. i think its a more logical position.

This is the standard shift pattern for all BMWs, which I'd think most valets should be familiar with. Still, giving it a mention might be a good idea, or I like Robin's shift pattern card idea too if you're just dropping it off and not handing over the keys directly to the valet.

I live in the LA area so vallet is a requirement at some places :( I always try and park it my self when I can.

In case anyone is interested...

Mike from AesthetiCreations.net made me a custom domed center stack decal. It has a carbon fiber pattern background, the JCW logo and the MINI shift pattern in chrome. Its hard to see the detail in the photo due to refection but I am very happy with the end result. Matches my JCW shift ****

Now that's a good idea, and simple too. But I think most valets would figure it out pretty fast, I mean you'd feel for the spring in reverse and it's either up/left or down/right in every car.

I agree, German, French, Italian, and British, all up and to the left.

Avoids dropping it into reverse at 160mph.
