Electronic Device Hard Wire Project

I recently added a radar detector to my MINI. I’ve mounted the unit up by the rear view mirror and I did not like the power cord, which plugged into the cigarette lighter, cluttering my window and dash. I decided to hard wire the device, thus eliminating all visual wires.

It was not hard, or terribly time consuming, and I was extremely pleased with the results. On my Blog, I share my step-by-step procedure. You can adapt this to suit your own hard wiring needs, such as a GPS, iPod or the like.

Nice write up, I used a bolt above the brake pedal to the left for my ground. Then ran the power cord along the same route, except I went to the right, and then tucked it under the glove compartment, behind the center stack, over the knee bolster and to the fusebox.
