Interior/Exterior Aero kit VS ORCIARI
Aero kit VS ORCIARI
Hey everyone... I would really like to put a body kit on my mini. Im having the hardest time choosing between the AERO kit and the Orciari. My mini is dropped about an INch with H-Sports. Ive seen the aero kit in person and it wasnt "TTTHHHHAAAATTTT" different from stock. On the other hand I dont want to get the Japanese rice rocket look with the Orciari (havent seen one in person). What do i do....
The orciari is a definite japanese import look and looks much like a subaru knock-off. If you wanna go for the japanese import look that is very flashy and in your face. And want to say "hey, look my car is different than stock" to any onlooker....the orciari is the way to go.
If you are looking to mod your car's appearance but dont want it to super obvious and want to stay in line with the original design lines. The aero kit is for you. It's less about standing out and getting noticed, and more about looking good and sporty. Its definitely still noticable....i just doesnt scream "look at me!" like the oriciari does.
I have seen a couple daily driven MINIs with the Orciari bodykit and it looked completely out of place. It almost takes a show car quality MCS to sport the Orciari with style; for example look at some pics in The Minitor's gallery.
I would say for most MINI enthusiasts that want to add a little more subtle styling to their car, get the factory aerokit. You can even go one step further and paint your sideskirts to match your paint.

I love the bumpers on the aero kit, just wish I could buy pre-painted side arches. I bet if a company made pre-painted wheel arches that they could make a killing!

Do you know what the Orciari kit is made of? Some of the aftermarket kits are fiberglass, which isn't always very forgiving of bends/hits. The stock bumpers (and I believe the Aero bumpers as well) are molded polyurethane, which has a lot more "give" to it.
That was with my MDA which is now broken. Give me a break. Did your stalking **** call my house earlier?
I have been in Europe for more than 6 years now and I really don't know how I am going to handle the 65-70 mile an hour speed limit when I eventually come back. I live four years in Germany prior to being here and I really miss driving on the autobahn.
Put simply, IMO:
Aero kit - lots of money for not much of a different look, but nice looking in an OEM sort of way
Orciari - lots of money for a very different look, nice looking in a japanese tuner sort of way
Now you just have to decide what style you are going for - keeping your car as close to stock as possible like many people do, japenese tuner, euro, thugish with chrome spinners, etc - bottom line though is do what you want in the style that you want and don't let others who are stuck on their style like it is the best style sway you to not to do what you want. That was a long sentence. Well have fun and make it how YOU want it!

i was actually waiting for you to post, MINITOR.
its funny how you mentioned a japanese turner sort of way for the Orc's.
cause im Japanese and I prefer the factory Aero kit better.
Well just because your Japanese doesnt mean your going to like the Japanese tuner style silly.
Tell Joe and Cheryl and family I said hi!

Then someone in our MINI club showed up with one that was blue and I really thought it looked cool there too. Different, and JDM/ Tuner style, but cool. It's here. As you would expect, the photo doesn't do it justice:

I have yet to see an agressive body kit that really integrates into the lines of the car as well as the conservative factory Aero kit, though.
