REQUEST: Exploded diagram of side rail area...
Hey all...
Is there any chance that someone has an exploded diagram of the '06 (or, '05 I guess, if it's the same) MINI undercarriage? Specifically, I'm looking for info on exactly what's running along the underside of the car in the area beneath the running boards (so along the driver's and passenger sides of the car). I know that often fuel lines and control wires run along in there, and I'd like to know what's under there before I have the car up on jack stands, if you know what I mean.
Info on fasteners and such is also helpful.
Thanks!

Just put the jack stands under the lift points and you will be fine.
It's not lifting it... I'm just wondering what's hidden beneath the side sill trim pieces. I'd rather know ahead of time to orient myself, as opposed to trying to poke around while lying under a suspended peice of hardware weighing over 2,000 pounds.
I need to take them off as part of something I'm working on and want to be sure I don't damage anything.
Yeah, I'm **** that way...

Then good luck in your search. I'm sure there's someone here that has done Aero sides that could tell you.
I removed the stock side sills and mounted the aerokit side sills earlier this year.
There are a series of plastic clips that hold the sidesills in place (side sill = the large black normally unpainted piece under the door). You must destroy most of the clips to remove the sill from the car, so you will need to stop by your local dealer and get some new ones. One or two of the clips might be finessed off of the car, but it's generally a 'grip it and rip it' operation, starting near the front wheel and away from the car.
Look in the 'Vehicle Trim - Interior Body Trim Panel - Door Sill / Entrance Cover" diagram on realoem for more info on the clips needed, or just go to your local parts counter and tell them what you are planning to do.
The clips are usually $0.50 to $1.00 each. You should buy all new ones... don't get cheap and try to re-use a clip that has been pulled off because they stretch out of place and don't hold as well the second time around.
If there were any fuel lines, wires, etc, they were completely covered by sheet metal body panels.
Here is the official MINI instructions for mounting the aerokit (courtesy of www.motoringfile.com): http://www.motoringfile.com/howto/Ae...%20Bodykit.PDF
