Gauges by rearview mirror.

What do you guys think of this? Having some gauges mounted by the rear view mirror. This was the only pic i could find of this shot with some weird mirror there so work with me. I decied to photoshop it real quick so it might be cheesy.?

It's a cool idea, but imho totally useless. When you are driving (at least me) I like to look at the gauges. Up there you could never look at the gauges and consentrate on the road at the same time, rendering them useless. However, if it's something like oil temp or volt, etc. where you don't need to look at them often, I say go for it!

For Bling For functionality ehhh That's called a "wink" mirror lets the driver see 180 degree rear view. Like Cody said, the purpose of guages is to provide info to the driver up there, not a good place for them.

What guages were you planning on installing up there? Electrical guages for temps or voltage would probably be best suited as its just running a wire up there I'm betting you'll probably have to go up the A-pillar then tuck under the headliner in the same manner as those who hardwire the radar detecors.

Those rear view mirrors are really quite functional though its hard to tell from a picture.
Sitting in the driver's seat it really is amazing how much behind and besides you the mirror reveals.
I used to see these way back in the 70s in rally cars but haven't seen one since, until your picture.

BTW - where did you find this RVM?
JC Whitney used to carry them.

I love those 5 panel Wink mirrors! Had one in my Scirocco and would love to put one in the MINI, but I don't like the way it limits the front view.

Anything extra that takes your eyes off of the road (no matter how long) is a bad thing. Now I might go for a heads up display like fighter pilots use. I wouldn't make it part of the windshield though. It would be inside the windshield.

Quick! Someone make a "I use to have a Wink mirror in my ride Owner's Club" badge!
(The hardest part to get used to for me was watching things beside you rush by when looking at the rear view.)

Really? Google is your friend.....

Jusk put in "Wink mirror", you'll get plenty of places to buy. However, they are "universal fit", they don't make one specifically for MINIs or any other car.
