Interior/Exterior Aero Kit?
Aero Kit?
I was reading the article from http://motoringfile.com/2006/10/29/2...ons/#more-5312
and i found out something called "hyper sports package" it includes something about the "aero kit". i remeber seeing a thread here (in this section) regarding the aero kit. what is it? is it just a wing and a bigger grill?

I hope the new aero kit is sweet. The stock front and rear is fine but not awesome, and the JCW one is a little extreme for me.
from that article-
"It’s worth noting that the MINI Aero Kit will be different from the JCW Aero kit pictured previously on MF."

Comparing the prices of the JCW Aero Kit and the Sport Suspention it seems about right for the two as well (knocking of a couple hundred for buying the set, of course).
I'm psyched of the idea of somthing different. I really like the front and sides of the JCW kit... the rear, well... not as much. Somthing between stock and the JCW kit would be very interesting, but not very cost effective (very un-BMW/MINI to produce a 2nd kit all together, ya know?).
I agree, the front and sides look awesome. I don't the like the rear as much.
...though I think it will look OK in a darker color... al-la Astal Black, British Racing Green, Dark Silver, etc... so I personally haven't totally ruled it out of my 2007 specs.

I'm also interested in the Aero Kit, and so to summarize the only point of debate on it so far:
In the US, there is a package called "Hyper Sport" that comes with the Aero Kit and Sport Suspension (plus?).
Some have heard this Aero Kit is the same as the JCW kit. OThers have heard it's a new, seperate one (as yet unseen). Does anyone here have more information on it, or maybe a friendly neighborhood dealer they can ask?
Hyper-Sport (ZHS) $1,400 (3/1/07): Aero kit, Sport suspension plus
ala Carte: Aerodynamic Kit (3/1/07) $1300/ZHS
The other question, of course, is, if the S already has the upgraded "Sports Suspension", why spend the addtional $100 on the package when all you're going to get is the Aero Kit?
To further confound the Hyper Sport package issue, my understanding was there was the "regular" suspension and the "sports" suspension on the S, and that there was no "Sports Plus." Accurate?
On the U.S. "2007 Ordering Guide Distribution" PDF, in the packages list, the Hyper Sport package lists parts 7AR as the Aero Kit and 226 as "sport suspension plus". However, if one goes to the ala carte parts list, the Aero Kit retains its name and number, and part 226 is simply called "sports suspension."
Any light anyone can shed on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JMelrose

Both the Cooper and Cooper S come with the same suspension level, which is equivalent to the Sports Suspension which was previously the default suspension on the R50 Cooper. What was formerly known as the Sports Suspension Plus is now an option on both the Cooper and Cooper S known as the Sports Suspension.
The Hypersports Kit includes the MINI Aero kit and the upgrade to the Sports suspension (fka SS+). This is one of the losses on the R56 Cooper S which is probably why the price didn't go up as much as the Cooper. A little bit of a bummer...
While both the Cooper and Cooper S have a base suspension, it is not the same. From the initial press releases on, they have made a point to mention that the MCS has a more sporty suspension standard than the MC and that with either you could have the even more sporty Sports Suspension. Nothing has really changed from R53 to R56 except that the R56 suspension should work better on all points due to refinement.
According to MiniUSA configurator, the "aero-kit" is different from the "JCW-kit." They have no pics of the "aero-kit" but it certainly costs less than the JCW one ($1300 vs $1575 for the JCW). I'm dying to see how this aero kit compares to the JCW kit.
yes, i am also patiently waiting to see what the aero kit in the hyper sport package looks like.
Actually that looks like the JCW kit for the standard Cooper. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=80856
And not the Hyper Sports kit.
And not the Hyper Sports kit.
As pointed out, this is the JCW kit.
Although the MINI configurator doesn't offer the MINI aero kit yet, there is a thumbnail 'teaser' in the configurator under Performance: Handling.
Note the different treatment around the fog lights and the different shape of the lower intake. . . I think it looks better than the JCW kit from the little that can be seen in that thumbnail.

I stand (well, sit actually) corrected
It looked different to me for some reason but having gone back to look at the JCW kit it IS kinda obvious

Have you seen the new aero spoiler? I think that as there are 2 different aero body kits, there will be a lot of spoilers... I have seen yet 4 different: Cooper, Cooper S, other for Cooper S (like the actual Aero Spoler; without a hole) and the Aero Spoiler.
