Found Available Parcel Shelves

My MINI is on the ocean so I want to be ready when she arrives. Like so many others I could not find a parcel shelf. So I spent about an hour on Google and - lo and behold - found a UK site that has them in stock and ships to the US. They are a bit pricy, but everything is relative...

www.newministuff.com

https://www.newministuff.com/new/sho...uctshow&id=375

I received an email from newministuff this morning advising that my order has been dispatched. The shelves still are listed on the site and available as five minutes ago.

FYI - The current conversion GBP to USD is 1 GBP = 1.89083813 USD.

The mat is a rubber liner that sits on the shelf. It is a very good non-slip surface. Some people choose to make their own liner, but unless you are so inclined, I highly recommend you get the mat with the shelf.

The switch blank is an insert that covers the hole in the front of the shelf. You'll want it.

The hole is intended for the Euro headlight control switch. In Europe, they get the ability to raise or lower their headlights with a small switch on the left side. In the USA, we get "auto-levelling" headlights, so we don't need a switch.

I installed a shelf in my 2004 MC - I could not do without one. The optional mat is designed to fit on the shelf and provides a 'non-skid' surface. Actually any rubber-type material could be cut to provide the same function. I just prefer the surface and feel of the OEM mat. There is a smallish hole in the shelf for installation of a switch or for access to a connection behind the dash. If the access hole is not needed, the switch cover clips in the hole. It's the same color, etc. as the shelf. No, mine has not arrived yet - it's floating over from the UK. Actually my MINI is still floating over also, so I'm cool. Let me know if I can help further with the shelf.

If anyone goes this route, I'd appreciate if you could order an extra switch pblank plate, I'd appreciate it. My Dremmel skills leave a bit to be desired but I'm not going to bay 15 pounds to get a piece of plastic over here. Let me know if you could do this for me. Thanks!

good deal, but watch shipping costs

I think I'll order one too, but the shipping is 27 pounds, and they tacked on 8.75% vat to my order. This brings the total up to close to $100, not counting the rubber liner and switch cover. These would push the price well over $150.

Just fyi.

How are you getting over $100. When I used a currency converter, I got like ~$86 shipped.

I also think www.myminiparts.com in Fla was also getting some additional ones and there's a minimania vendor announcement on NAM about having parcel shelves.
