One of my H11 fog light bulbs from visionbulbs.com did not fit in the MINI's foglamp housing, shorted, blew a 15 amp fuse and almost cooked the housing. Hours and $$ later I now have the OE bulbs back in. Before installing the H11 bulbs compare them to the OE ones. IMO, they are cheaply made and not a direct replacement.

What abut them didn't match or will it be just obvious? Looking them by themselves, they look pretty good. Thanks!

But it could have been worse.... It could have been back in the harness. But at least you have working lights now. Sorry I didn't point you that way with my first answer...

I got my "xenon match" fog light bulbs installed yesterday. They look very nice.
Installation was not as easy as it should be.... poor design by Mini. The new bulbs are a little more difficult to fit into the housing than the stock bulbs. Be patient and look into the light housing from the front (through the lens) you will see when the tabs are lined up.

Overall I'm very happy with the group buy...... especially since I wasn't involved on the original order, I just entered NAM into the coupon section and the discount was applied.

Thanks
Donald

Well both of my H11s are dead. One just popped fuses, and since sending it back, now the other side has gone too. I hope I just got a bad batch.

Wow, sorry to hear all the bad experiences. The only problem I encountered was fitting the bulbs into the housing. They were a little more difficult than stock to put in as the tabs are JUST the right size and take some persuading to go in. But now that they are on I have zero problems and the lights look great.

About the bulbs burning out, make sure you don't touch the bulbs as that'll cause them to burn out. The bulbs popped the 15A fuse? I have a 40A fuse from when I was running HID fogs so I haven't experienced any problems with that...

Well so far I am only out 2 15a fuses, and about $1.80 additional postage. So no worries. I have done a ton of bulb replacements before, and have never had a problem, but still that doesn't mean I didn't do something to cause the 2nd one to die. But I am pretty sure the first bulb was dead before they even shipped it to me. So hopefully, just a bad batch, and with the new bulbs, all will be well. For the short time the 1 bulb worked, it did look pretty good.

Little surprised here too Ive been running the bulbs for a good 6 months w/ no issues whatsoever. As 02 said make sure you dont touch the bulbs and I would were gloves when you do the install as well.

If you DO end up accidentally touching the bulbs, try cleaning them with as strong a rubbing alcohol as you can find... It removes the finger oils that cause the "hot spots" that shorten the bulb life. We used to do this all the time with projector lamps when i wprked at a movie theater and it seemed to work. That said, wearing gloves is the best solution if you have them.

If that's the case, talk about a huge mark up in prices and a huge profit margin for vision bulbs.

Working ok for me

I've had the group buy bulbs in for a week now. They look great and work great! I don't run the fogs all the time...Only when it's foggy (imagine that)...But they are a great color and (knock on wood) haven't had problems with blowing fuses or shorting out!!! I also didn't have any problem at all plugging the fogs in, or securing them in the housing. I wiggled the fixutre a bit as I put the light back in the housing and it went right in!

I also used the just pull the high-beem out trick and that worked great!!!!

I'm very happy with the purchase so far!

Vision bulbs

I agree with those who think these bulbs are total crap. I got H11s, H7s and the interior set through the group buy. I only had time to install the interior set and the H7s last weekend, and I sure am glad I didn't go to the trouble of installing the H11s. While all the bulbs do throw off a whiter light, there's a lot less of it. In addition, the H7s are no where near a color match for the Xenons - they're still very yellow. So - out they come and back they go. Does anyone know if Vision Bulbs gives refunds? I guess the old saying is true - you get what you pay for . . .

Paid for all, rec'd some and IMO they are CRAP. I am trying to get my money back. I still feel stupid for paying money to replace my german bulbs with CRAP from China. I guess MINI owners will buy anything. I am living proof.

Beware: Vision Bulbs Is A Rip-off...

Sent 'em back three weeks ago. No reply from them. No response to email, or phone message on their voice mail.

Guess I got screwed out of $40. Not the first time and probably not the last. Glad it wasn't big money.

hahah wait...these were 40 dollars discounted, blew fuses, cooked houses, and sometimes dont fit?

I bought a pair from another company for 29 dollars un-discounted that fit perfectly and could easily match xenons....and best of all, they are still working 2 years later

Sent one set back and one set was destroyed during install. I contacted American Express (Pay Pal). All my money was refunded without question.

Wow! I'm Glad I read through all 8 pages..I was refered to this thead from a SCMM member for info about the fog lights.
Thanks guys on all you honest input, even though it got quite confusing.
If any one is interested in what bulbs I installed in my Angel Eyes go here:
http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=52543
They'll make the clear lensed Angel Eyes sparkle like Mother of Pearl and orange when the turn signals are on.. $11.95.I like them. Not ICKY in my opinion..
Moss also sells the bulbs to take away the fried egg yolk look on the stock lenses.$29.95 you can do a search..
Well,I guess I'll CAN the Xenon Fog Light idea for now.
I'de like to hear how the peeps that had success with there installs are now doing after a couple of months..
Hey Larry C. Did you ever get your refund?? Mike

Well one of my bulbs deciding to melt itself into a BRAND NEW housing that bought because I previously melted the stock with a faulty HID install... Needless to say the bulbs are crap and I learned my lesson...

I'm going with HIDs
