I started a new thread because the other one was getting large and I wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to see it and not get lost in the mix. So here goes..My first try at a How-To..........

First clean the lens of all dirt, wax, etc.

Wow...that looks too easy to be true.....
I wish you lived near me though.....I am afraid if I do it that I will mess it up royally....I am not good with knives.

But in all seriousness....is it easy to cut? And it sits completely flush with the lens without any weird edges? Do you worry about it peeling off now that it's on there? It's such a cheap alternative to anything else I have seen....I would love to try it.

Yes it is that easy. You could also buy the tint and go to a tint shop and I am sure they would do it for you. And you still would be way under the cost that MINI whatever is selling the pre-cut tints for. I think they are at $100.00 for it. This costs under $30.00 and I bet the tint guy would do it for $10.00 for you if you

I have been tinting windows on the side for years now and this film for the taill lights is a great quality and easy to work with. Save your money and do it yourself. Its not that hard as long as you take your time. Anyone in South Florida that wants this done let me know. I would be happy to do it for you.

I get the feeling that a "certain someone" is going to find himself involved in a tailight tinting project in the very near future!

Nice job on the How-to Nobull60!!!!

This is why I love MCO. What started out as a question about the tints has turned into an complete DIY project.

I'm ordering the tint today to do the wheel arch reflectors, now that I see how easy it is.

The lights look just as bright once they are on and would probably look even brighter if you do the tail light mod.

Bad shot, but you get the idea. I did my front arches with some leftover tint material that was lying around the shop. Doing the rears tonight most likely.

Great result on the fronts. I HATE amber reflectors. Red doesn't bother me, but amber is ugly. Now with the lights off you don't see it at all. Lights on, you only get a light on the very top.

>> The lights look just as bright once they are on .....<< Only if you're using a clear tint. Any dark tint is going to reduce the brightness. With the idiots we have driving around here I'd like some Xenon brake lights! The "local law" suggestion is valid. Some areas don't allow this mod.

Sweet writeup. I just ordered the stuff for my car. Thanks.

Would it be possible for you to post a pic with the tailights illuminated?

So if you do this to the tail lights do most locations require you to add some sort of reflectors onto the rear of the car?

I have been wondering a very similar question: Does the tint inhibit the reflector? Or does the reflector still "work" through the tint?

I might like to do the fender lights, but I'm afraid to lose any additional visibility enhancers. Those darn SUVs never seem to see me until the last second.

I'm looking at the film company's website and the only product that looks close to what I see in your pictures is the 4"x72" "smoked bug shield". Is that the item to order?

If not, can you tell us the exact name of the item you ordered?

Thanks!
