Anyone know what the ground clearance is for the stock front versus the Aero front? I think I read that the Aero is 1" lower than the stock, but that doesn't mean anything to me without knowing the height of the stock front. I'm really interested in the Aero front, but I'm not sure if the ground clearance will be a problem with snow, speed bumps, etc.

Thanks.

The stock front is about 4". Just drive slowly on the hump & you will be fine.

Actually the clearance is 5" w/stock 16" wheeels.. I have installed the Aero kit and changed to 17's w/ 215 40 rubber and lowered the car w/coil overs 4cm and now have 9cms(about 4&quot clearance. We too have hellaciuos speed bumps at base entrances (thanks Bin Laden!!!) or I would be lower

Have a GREAT day!!

I have the Aero Kit, and 16" Runflats. I don't know the actual clearance, but live in Central PA with Snow, Ice, potholes (Hellaceous ones!) and speed bumps.

Never had a problem hitting anything, just drive carefully.

Oh yeah, one thing. Get used to parking further out from the curb in parking slots. Most cement blocks and sidewalks WILL hit the bottom of the Aero front end.

I have the stock front and 17" wheels, and actually scrape the front rather often. Curbs and speed bumps are a problem (but can be avoided if I go slow). But what's really alarming is when I drag the chin on bumpy/uneven roads when coming down a hill. Here in New England we have some sharp hills and lumpy roads (backroads especially), and I've scaped more than once. I think the aero would be fine if I stuck to flat, smooth, pavement...but that's just not possible where I live.

Never had any problems with the aero kit. Don't let that concern influence your decision too much.

Does anyone have any numbers on this? i have an 05 MCc with Aero Kit. It's my wifes and whenever she drives down the ramp into our garage, she scrapes the guard. We're wondering if we switch back to the regular bumper if she'll have more height. We're on the standard 15" wheels, btw.

I think the overall clearance is about the same, except on the stock (at least the cooper) is is a lip at the back of the bumber that sticks down, and is apart of the black plastic peice on the bottom. With the aero, the coloured part of the bumper extends down about the same over all distance as the lip on the stock bumper. The side skirts are lower tho, they extend tothe bottom of the jack points, and i think the rear bumber is about an inch lower or something, imeasured one day, but forget now. Again, i looks alot bigger, but that is mostly because it doesnt have as much bloakc on the bottom of it as the stock stuff.

hope this helped,

Beecher

oh, and a friend of mine runs short tires on 15s, with his car lowered about 3/4 inch, and has the aero, he drives it in the winter, we live just outside toronto ontario canada, so we get enough snow to know you can use the aero in the winter
