Proposed artwork for my new baby...

Just wanted to solicit some opinions about the artwork I played with on the miniusa site. My mini will be DS/B w/webspokes. I'm proposing to do the artwork in either black or the frost finish.

I like the flames that are sold through cooperflags. But my family and co-workers are telling me (in not so politically correct terms) that they will look silly. Like I ever worry about that....

Anyway - here's an alternative I ginned up. Does it look okay? If so, black or frost. Ah.... the weight of the world is on my shoulders. If it's a no go, I can always go back to the X-Men theme I was considering. I'm thinking baby-MINI will be named ShadowCat in keeping with that.

I'd go frost... that design would look GREAT in "ghost flame" mode. Black looks a bit busy for my taste, but that's purely a subjective thing...

Imho, no go. Looks nasty....but if you do do it, go with frost.

Not so much

I'm not so much for flames on a Mini - just my $0.02

I don't think it looks bad at all but it reminds me of octopus tentacles

I personally think it looks really bad....it would make more sense on a cheap honda or scion.....

The lines don't really line up with the lines of our car....it would take a highly modified car to have tribal flame designs to even make sense. On a stock car it would look like just a stuck on sticker rather than styling

Not my cuppa T. Looks like you caught some torn up plastic garbage bags behind the front wheels and they are flapping in the wind

I don't like them. Live with the car a little while and something will come too you. Those look like they belong on a 86 Mustang

What matters of course, Misty, is what YOU like...

I am intrigued by the Xmen theme you mentioned, though... What did that look like?

Ok come on Misty, think like an ink blot test & bear with me

See the octopus is laying down kinda at an angle & all we can see is the side part of its head then all his tentacles are winding towards the back of the Mini. Can ya see it with me now

Uhhh... okay. It looks like a no-go anyway. God forbid - I'll be forced to start pulling out Hello-Kitty decals. I should just put myself at the mercy of my art staff and have them put me out of my misery.

I hadn't quite worked that out... but I was intrigued by the idea of DS with some version of the X-MEn logo... http://www.my360.com.au/img/news/XMenLogo.jpg It probably isn't practical for this type of thing though.

Obviously she is not sure whether she likes the artwork. I assume that is why she posted this thread in order to to get other's opinions. I also assume if she was thrilled with the design she would not have started this thread as she did. Bottom line - if you aren't sure nix it. You will have to live with it and you shouldn't have to live with something that you designed and desire that you are uncertain about. Make sure it is something you love (and who the H E double toothpicks cares what other peeps think). But if you have to ask - you already know the answer.

Go For It!

i hate to sound so 80's and say "totally", but "totally". It's your car. You-a-fy it however you see fit. Black or Frost Tentacles or X-MEN logo (*cough*ad*cough), it will certainly be unique and you'll be known as "the girl with the _____ MINI". I say go for it! (yet another 80s phrase!)

PS: Best part- if you go vinyl, you can always peel it off...

You'll know when you've found what you want. And if you're not sure, ask the people whose opinions you trust and care about.

No matter what you choose, be prepared for some harsh criticism. Luckily, most people here (at least the ones I've crossed paths with) are RESPECTFUL, and say things like, "I don't care for that" or "It's not my style, but I appreciate the boldness" instead of "That looks like *****." It's also helpful when people explain WHY they don't like something, because it may help you to consider something from a different perspective.

Good luck, and remember, youification is supposed to be fun!!!

Do what you think looks best.....

However, frost/ghost IMO is always better on a MINI - (See below and my Gallery)

And yes, be prepared for LOTS of critisism (See my "Wikked" thread)

Personally, I do not think that those "flames" flow with your MINI - Flames should "accent" a car - making it look "in motion" even when it's not - and those "flames" seem to rise up like the afformentioned "octopus tentacles."

Good luck in whatever you decide!!

I seriously love those flames. As I've mentioned before - HOTT.

Anyway.

I appear to be in the minority here - it's not something I would do on MY MINI but it's interesting to me. I even like it in the black.

But of course, as is the point of owning a MINI - if you like it, that's all that matters.

B&D, I don't usually go for the 'flame' look, but yours have changed my mind - they look GREAT!!!

Misty, I've seen some flames that look good - especially in frost - done by Mike at AestheticCreations. I haven't seen CooperFlags' but don't let others sway you if you find something you love - I didn't, and couldn't be happier every time I'm near my MINI!

I like the look of black on the dark silver. I wonder if the frost flames would totally be lost? I really like the black on dark silver. Did I mention that? I'm not particular about the vines, though. (Yes, they looked like vines to me, even before you had to tell us! ) I agree with the previous recommendation that anything flame-like looks like the car is in motion. I really like B&D's MINI. Smokin! Whatever you choose, make sure you're happy with it. That's all that matters. We're all opinionated about your car here on the boards, but really, we'll only see it if you post pictures. You get to love your baby every day.
