Misty, I've seen some flames that look good - especially in frost - done by Mike at AestheticCreations. I haven't seen CooperFlags' but don't let others sway you if you find something you love - I didn't, and couldn't be happier every time I'm near my MINI!

I appreciate that - and I get that kinda comment alot-
I Just want to clarify also - that my flames are a CUSTOM PAINT JOB and cannot be achieved with a 'deacal.'
When I mentoned "frost" before, I was thinking decal.
But what I would really LOVE to see on someone's Pure Silver or Dark Silver colored MINI, is a graphic (I lean toward flames) that is done in a "Chamelion" type of paint job, meaning, that the color of the graphic changes with the light, and have that done in a "ghost" type fashion.
I think that would totally hot. I suggested it to someone I met at MTTS and they said it was a good possibility.

Custom Paint is the only way to go!!!!!!! For a truly unique Mini that is. Sure you can peel the vinyl off if you do not like it. But you can not dispute how a nice paint job looks compared with any vinyl graphics.

See, I'd say that it's better to go vinyl... Maybe it's just me, but I think the ability to change the car's look a year or two out is a valuable thing. Painting shows a greater committment, sure, but it's much more expensive and God forbid you change your mind after 9 months... Honestly, I've seen some pretty impressive vinyl applications on all kinds of cars - it seems like a bad vinyl job is no more fugly than a badly done custom flame airbrush, and honestly, some of the most terrible, eye-bending graphics I've ever seen were airbrushed.
Maybe I just have a short attention span, but I know from a lifetime of doing art that there's no inherent "nobility" in the materials you chose to use for a project... A dog turd gilded in gold foil is still a dog turd.

And yes, be prepared for LOTS of critisism (See my "Wikked" thread)
Personally, I do not think that those "flames" flow with your MINI - Flames should "accent" a car - making it look "in motion" even when it's not - and those "flames" seem to rise up like the afformentioned "octopus tentacles."
Good luck in whatever you decide!!

I also vote on paint. While it is expensive, it will look correct, and I think you'll be happier with it.
My $0.02, try a more subtle design that flows a little better, and consider doing it with a ghost or frost appearence.

whoa! the MINI in front of the Kenworth! VERY COOL STUFF!
Go with what YOU like. Do you think I cared what people thought about my old Solid Gold MINI. No, because I did it for MYSELF, and nobody else. Plus with vinyl, you can change it out, unlike my wife's Celica, which she was dead set on painting the dragon down the side of her car. Now she has to have the car repainted to change her design.

Thanks for saying that. I still think I'm going to think on it a bit and figure it out after I've driven the car for a couple of weeks. My son has already said that if I do something "weird" to the car, he won't ride in it. HA... he'll change his mind!
Flames on a MINI?
If you want to put flames on a car, you better buy a 32 Ford!
It's your car, and your decision is final...but a big BRG racing stripe top to bottom front to rear, maybe with a black border stripe, would be more in keeping with what you're driving. I wouldn't flame a Mini any more than I'd flame a Ferrari or a Caterham or a Grinnall Scorpion. Turn the tables...think about a 40 Ford coupe with a Union Jack on the roof...or a BRG racing stripe. Put some driving lights on it while you're at it. Uh uh!
Tom (Grinnall S3 - no flames!)

Just wanted to solicit some opinions about the artwork I played with on the miniusa site. My mini will be DS/B w/webspokes. I'm proposing to do the artwork in either black or the frost finish.
I like the flames that are sold through cooperflags. But my family and co-workers are telling me (in not so politically correct terms) that they will look silly. Like I ever worry about that....
Anyway - here's an alternative I ginned up. Does it look okay? If so, black or frost. Ah.... the weight of the world is on my shoulders. If it's a no go, I can always go back to the X-Men theme I was considering. I'm thinking baby-MINI will be named ShadowCat in keeping with that.

Another MINI driver who thinks doing anything ELSE but stripes, checkers, or a Union Jack is akin to spitting on Winston Churchill's grave, and pissing on a Beefeater guarding Buckingham Palace.
I say "more in keeping with what you're driving" is a misnomer. A MINI owner is more keyed in to 'self-expression' than most other car owners. ONE of the reasons they bought a MINI in the first place is about standing out in the crowd. ESPECIALLY the ones that go ahead and put graphics (whether it be stripes or POLKA DOTs!) on their beloved MINIs.
Lighten up Mr. Britania. The Empire is intact (mostly) - and individual graphics appearing on a MINI won't sink its reputation, its history, nor its Prestige.
I would think that someone like you wouldn't even DRIVE a MINI considering the fact that MINI is now GERMAN OWNED!!! Oh, heaven HELP Britania!!:impatient
