Will a "stubby" antenna affect nav?

I really would like to change the antenna on my MCSa, but not if it has any negative affects on the navigation. Anyone with experience with this?

No. Doesn't affect it.

I have a 2006 w/ NAV & an Alta Shorty Antenna.. no issues here.

Get a high quality stubby or your radio reception will suffer, not your Navi. Even with there being 2 radio antennas my reception suffered greatly with a POS cheapo antenna from ebay.

Alot of people like the one from the Honda S2000. They should be pretty easy to find. I have an Alta on my car. Works well enough, don't really know if it made any difference in reception as I never use(d) the radio portion of the stereo.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but can someone post a link to the Honda s2000 short antenna that I should buy? Is it just plug and play or do I need something else for it to fit my 2006 cooper? Thanks in advance.

The only thing affected by the rubber antenna is AM. FM is built into the rear window. Sat Radio/Nav are built into the base of the antenna. You could remove the whip completely and it won't change anything.

I bought a stubby for my '13 Justa from Craven Speed and I'm very happy with it.

Glad to hear that you like The Stubby! A nice benefit of ours is that powdercoat will not fade like the rubber or anodized models that everyone else sells.

It's the standard Honda OEM antenna for the S2000. Google "Honda S2000 antenna" and you'll find lots of Honda parts vendors. It's plug and play.

Another alternative is MINI's own shorty "sport antenna", available at dealers and online vendors.

I had a CravenSpeed, it was so nice someone stole it from me in an airport parking lot!

I replaced it with a Gobadges carbon fiber one, just for a change of look really.
