I also have a cubby bolster, and a Euro shelf on the way. When it comes, I'll post a comparison.

I took some pictures for those of whom may be considering an omission of the $27 rubber mat. The mat is pretty nice and although overpriced, somehow still a worthwhile item.

The complete kit is $60 at Classic MINI. It only requires 2 screws total, not 2 sets of 2. I bought the 32c silver screws but after seeing them I wish I had purchased the 20c black screws instead.

can anyone post more pics of the shelf at different angles? I am interested in how it looks from the driving position, if you can even see it. i actually have ordered the parts via classicmini, but still don't know if i will install it or not. the current piece matches the glove in terms of looks, and i don't know how clean it will look with the shelf in place, but it might give it a classy look as well. at any rate, if someone could post pics at different angles, i'd be most appreciative.

Also, once installed, is it possible to switch it out?

thanks in advance,

Ryan

It can be switched back in 10 minutes but you will not want to. It is a very nice addition.

I will try to take a shot tomorrow and post if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Good, I just like the smoothness of the dash now, and that part i'll be taking out for the shelf is symmetrical to the glovebox, and taking that out will bess that continuity up somewhat. i just want to be able to change my mind if i decide to do that.

I don't think you can really see the euro shelf when driving - the steering wheel obscures most if not all of it.
I have to feel my way to the rally light switch - even at night I cannot see its light glowing.

But it is a little extra space to store stuff ... although I use the "hot pocket" more than the shelf.

yeah, i got mine today, too.. installation was easy, like 5 mins. in fact, it took me longer to find the torx wrench than to do the install

i'm not sure how much i like it. it looks fine down there, no one would probably even notice if you didn't point it out to them. it's just seems a little awkward for me to get to, but i think that's because my seat's so far back that it makes the shelf far back to reach. i think i'll keep it in because i'm much more likely to be motoring about, wishing i had the shelf than to be in a position that I really wish i had a proper knee bolster.

plus i think it adds to the aesthetics, giving it a classy european look.

The parcel shelf rocks. Re: the $27 mat- I bought some of that thick foam type shelf liner of the same color as my panther black interior and cut it out to fit. A couple of velcro patches, and it stays put just fine. I also used the same stuff on the bottom of my door cubbies, and also my front cup holders. The OEM shelf mat does look nice, however. I may order it at a later date. Cheers.

Ok...I'm interested in the extra storage, but I'm confused. How can attaching something under the steering wheel INCREASE your legroom? Unless you are removing something else? What am I missing here? :???:

It is like a portion of the knee bolster has been removed. look at the bolster and piture it being moved towards the front of the car by three inches or so. I know this is'nt a very good description but it makes the area under the steering wheel feel larger.

For those that want to see the extra just remove you knee-bolster. It just snaps off and on. Take it our and sit in the car. The difference is amazing. Also, with it out you will seewhat you see when you install the euro-shelf while sitting the drivers seat.

If you do not like it then it is not for you.......just try it......

Go back to the picture on page 1 of this thread. And, to put the cherry on top, the little square you see in the upper left part of the shelf and below the vent is to put in the switch for the rally lights or passenger ejection seat button

Does this only come in one color? I have antracite interior and I am wondering if it will blend with the dark grey. Otherwise sign me up!

Thanks to Technomage's excellent photographs and Mr. Bridger's website, I now have the drivers side parcel shelf! It looks great and now i've got more space for STUFF. Had a bit of a shock after I pulled the original cowling off - it didn't look exactly like Technomage's picture! WTF? Then I spotted it - the aftermarket alarm box was in the way. I popped it off too, and gently tucked it up behind the dash, and voila! The install was very easy, and Technomage's step-by-step pictures made it an easy mod. Now I've gone and done it, so I'm looking into future mods, now.

Thanks again to the MINI gearheads on the Web...

BCNU,
Rob in Dago

The lower dash pieces on that level (bolster on one side, glovebox on the other) are both that dark grey color whether you have the anthracite or not. All the anthracite pieces are on the next level up (with the gauges and passenger airbag) so the parcel shelf would actually look odd if it wasn't that dark grey color.

I have my parcel shelf sitting in a bag beside me - I just need a MINI to install it in.

Ordered mine yesterday from Classic Auto Campus. They said they would probably have to extend the special for the combo Euro Shelf package because 1) the great response and 2) they are now backordered!

Should have my shelf when it comes off back ordered. Hopefully 2 - 4 weeks. Now I will have place to keep my garage door opener
