Hello All,

I just purchased a used 04 MCS which was originally a canadian car. In all the Canadian specs, it says that xenon lights are standard. The owner didnt really know (so he didnt charge me for them), but I looked at the lights, and it says "xenon technology". However, the lights do not have the "turret" looking projection thing like the USA mini coopers. Its just a flat surface that encompasses the top half of the headlight.

even now, if you go to the Canadian mini website, it says xenons are standard on the MCS. However, the picture they have now, does look like the "turret" lights like the USA cars.

At night, when I turn on the low-beams, the light is very bright, and makes the turn signal lights look yellow. So, I'm wondering, does anyone have any knowledge on if xenon lights are different in Canada... I was thinking maybe because of the extreme cold weather, the lights are designed differently?

 

2002-2004 MINI and 2005+ MINI have different headlights...

They are both Xenon, but the style is different...

 

The earlier MINI's had reflector HID's. The new one's are projector style that have a better cutoff and throw out a little more light.

 

Do the lights warm up? And appear very blue/purple when you first time them on?

 

thanks guys! yeah, its xenon... i didnt know that the 02-04 had the reflector xenons and not the projectors. Thanks all!
