chrome bonnet scoop?

I have been looking for a quality chrome bonnet scoop, looks like the factory one is my best bet, such as this one

http://www.parts.com/partlocator/ind...catalogid=3751
I assume it's a complete part and will replace the existing scoop. However I'm not happy with the price tag.
Many other online stores sell a cheap 'glue on' plastic piece, I don't like the idea of putting on another scoop, I can also guess the new scoop will stick out a bonnet line a bit. Has anyone installed it? what's your thoughts?

I just saw an interesting 'GP' chrome scoop when an ad from motoringfile.com caught my eyes, wait a while until it shows up

wow, it looks even better, anybody know where I can get it?

scoop

i didnt opt to go for the more expensive scoop myself. i went the cheap route and got the one with the double sided tape. i was curious about it as well, but thought why not. i am really glad i did. it looks great and you really cant tell the difference. yeah, it does stick out slightly, but its really not that noticeable. i have a bunch of pics of it in my gallery.. check them out.

foster200, thx for the reply, I checked your gallery, well I can't really tell how it fits cause either the view is too far away or it's really dirty. though I like this pic, nice shot

Once you have the chrome scoop over the factory scoop, is there a visible gap between them? if so does dust find a way into it?

Chrome scoop overlay:

Actual custom-chromed scoop:

There are no gaps in the overlay scoop. As a matter of fact, it has held up much better than the scoop I have had custom-chromed. Less susceptible
to debris damage. It also has a mesh-like look inside to keep the bigger debris out without blocking airflow. Unless you are a MINI owner that is aware that these are "stick-ons", no one would know any difference.

i agree! you may say no to stick ons and all.. but saving $100 is saving $100. i dont always agree with this, but in this case you really cant tell the difference.

maybe its just the one i saw....but it was noticable that it was an added stick on because it was raised a little above the hood. If its absolutely unoticable then its a great savings....but on a car that cost so much, sacrificing its beauty to save 100 dollars doesnt seem worth it to me(thats only if it does look cheap....).

I have an OEM MINI chrome bonnet scoop. The dealer guy told me they bolt on, rather than stick on with adhesive. I love the way it looks, too. Just my two cents.

my car came with a double sided chrome stick on scoop. I actually thought it was a real scoop for a while. and it was stuck on GOOD. with no visible gaps. and it was a real pain to get off. I say go for the stick on if your looking to save some $$
