M7 Aero Splitter installed

Well it took my bud Sapan and I about 3 hours to get this done. Getting the bumper off wasn’t to bad. Drilling the holes and such wasn’t bad either. But realizing the splitter covered some of the mounting holes was hard. We had to remove the bumper a few times to make adjustments for the bottom of the bumper to reattach correctly.

First impressions:
I like it..I like it alot!! I didn’t install the metal stabalizers because I don’t think they are needed nor look that great.

Car looks so mean without the bumper:

Test fitting:

Installed:

Yes, some of my mods under the bonnet have been removed for my upcoming trip to the dealer. Just to make their life easier.

also those struts give the splitter a lot of its strength ... it must be quite "flexy" ... be careful.
Just think of the thing in 80 + MPH wind .

The splitter is held on with 10 bolts and is very strong. I recon they will give strength but I don't care for the look.

Looks good Mark! I really like the look of the extra supports honestly, very trackish/racy imo. Good luck on Tuesday!

I think the supports are a must. I would talk to Peter or Randy at m7 and ask them what they think of leaving them off. You certainly don't want it to come off at speed. If the wind is pulling it up or down even a little it will be creating lift or drag and that defeats the purpose. I would definitely use the braces--No question. I would think you would be voiding any warranty m7 provides if you aren't using them too.

I also agree the support braces look great. I really like the look.

Please install the stand-off's or the splitter will splitt from your car for sure.
The aerodynamic force is way stronger that a few bolts in the rear of your splitter...

Hay ...
I told him FIRST. (LOL)

To answer the question...
You don't just bolt this up . there is some "enginerring" to do.

I figured it out no problem, but this is the first aftermarket part that I have purchased that had NO directions. Did you others get onstructions ???

I saw his MINI last weekend in Va. Beach and it's a beautiful car. The solid silver with the aero kit is a great look. All the mods are well choosen too and very nicely installed. Great MINI!

Now all you need to do is install the supports before the splitter rips off on the highway and hurts someone.

I'm not fond of the look of the stand-offs either, but I'll definitely install mine anyway to get every possible bit of structural support. Besides, they won't stand out nearly as much on your PS as they will on my IB.....

Thank you all for your comments and advice on the stand-offs. I will try to find some time to put them on. Although that means taking off the bumper once again....bahh.

I recon now that I have the splitter on that finding out where the stand-offs go should be easier.

Oh and bgago there is no included instructions. Actually what would of made the task easier is if the holes were pre-drilled in the splitter. Then there would be no guesswork needed.

Why did you have to take the bumper off if you weren't using the stand-offs? Mine was just a matter of removing some screws from the bottom then adding the splitter and reinstalling the screws. The only reason I had to remove the bumper was to put the nuts on the stand-offs.

Just breakin' ur ball$ a little. Looks nice

Removal of the bumper made for drilling of the bumper much much easier.
