Passing the Ferrari? Ummmm, yeah! That's exactly what I was doing! Sure! That's the ticket!

I've gotta give credit to ImagoX for giving me the idea for the small meatballs on the bonnet and boot. Here is his sharp HO 'vert:

A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to help the folks at Texas Speed Werks (http://www.txwerks.com/servlet/StoreFront ) beta test their new lowering springs. They dropped the rear of the car about 1" over stock and dropped the front about 5/8" on the stock struts. The spring rate is slightly firmer than stock and the moderate drop means that you can still work with the factory struts without extreme premature wear. Dropping the rear a bit more than the front removes some of the forward rake and cleans up some of the 'hopped-up' look from the rear factory setup. I'm loving the flatter cornering and the reduced brake-dive removes a lot of drama from limit braking.

I've heard that the price will be $199 and that they will be available in a week or so.

Here are the before and after pics:

My MINI is hitting the paint booth next Wednesday to get my skirts/wheel arches painted! im so excited, i will take pics when its all said and done.

I still think someone needs to make a PW/PW/PW club badge for our sigs.

I think those are JCW wheels... a fellow PW owner (Black roof, but we won't hold that against them ) in Houston has the same set. Very slick.

As soon as John got his car, he stripped off almost every exterior piece that wasn't black and had it painted PW or black... I'd bet that the black MINI badge is a custom paintjob.

very nice man! if you want a more reflective look to the white to add some deph, look into an acrylic based glaze to top with your wax of choice. My favorite to use on whites is Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze.

Again, very nice ! :D

well...my mini is at the paint booth. I took it up there at 7:00am today. I cant wait to get it back, im already having MINI withdraws. Hopefully it will only be 2-3 days and i will get it back. I really hope they do a good job. Im always nervous when i am getting body work/paint done. So many people are just "ok" at it, and so few are REALLY good at it.

So wish Felix the best, he is at a new place with strange people messing with him.

I'll take pics as soon as i get it back

Go Felix! I had the pieces painted separately and then installed them myself. I can remember the nervous anticipation that morning... waiting to get out in the garage and get the painted pieces mounted. Just like a kid on Christmas morning.

Congratulations! I'm sure Felix will come through with flying colors!

Body shop told me that my MINI should be ready for pick up tomorrow. YAY! the guy told me that he hopes they can paint late this afternoon before they leave so it can dry over nite. Then they will bake it in the morning just to make sure everything is good and dry. Then re-install everything. Im not sure how im going to pick my MINI up tomorrow because i dont get off work until after they are closed, and i have a feeling they dont work on weekends. I might try to take a late lunch break and pick it up on my lunch, but then what will i do with the car i drove to work in?

Tomorrow (friday) is always our busiest day of the week, so taking the day off isnt an option.

Any suggestions?

DickDavid noted the stormtrooper effect about a year ago when I posted a photoshop of PW painted arches to my local club board. I thought it was so funny, that it helped my MINI naming process... I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan

Jango (Fett) = the 'father' of all stormtroopers.

well i just picked my car up, it looks GREAT!!! The car looks so much better with painted moldings. They really should offer it as an option.

BUT! I had to come back to work. I wont get off work until 7:30 and it will be dark out, so i will post pics tomorrow when there is day light out.

I agree that I can't believe that this isn't offered as an option. I certainly would have considered it.

After having the arches painted, how well do they hold up to dings?

I've had 'em since February and no dings yet (16k miles in the 10 months I've had the car). I've heard a few (definate minority) talk about ding and flaking issues.

I had them painted by a very skilled shop... They do the majority of the high-end work in Dallas... Lambo, Ferrari, Rolls, etc., but I had to pay their prices for the work. I think that a lot of problems were plastic prep related (you have to very carefully strip away waxes and silicones before painting), so I paid to have the best do it right the first time.

MiniMizer: We can't wait to see pics of Felix!

The top middle and lower grills are all powder coated black m7 grills.

The lower grill has been modified to allow access to my tow hook hole.

Now i need to get rid of all this chrome! ....and get some black wheels...SSR comps maybe?

Also need to lower it
