Greetings. I was thinking about applying some bonnet/boot stripes on my Mini but want to have the stripes come under the emblem. is there a way to (safely) remove the emblem, apply the stripes, and then re-apply the emblem?

Thanks in advance,

If I wasn't going to re-apply the grinder would be a nice option. As would a M80 taped to that part of the hood.

I don't know about the MINI, but BMW emblems are usually on by tape. Check the back of each emblem to see if anything is coming through the metal that might attach the emblem to the car. If they are just taped you can heat them up with a hair dryer and then run a piece of fishing line between the emblem and the body-slowly and surely pulling the line through the tape behind the emblem. Then get some goof-off or denatured alcohol and remove the residue from both the car and the emblem. Buy some car double sticky tape for emblems and restick them to the car.

I belive that there is adhesive tape as well as two guide pins. You can see the pins in the underside of the hood. I thought about pulling them off and spraying them black to match the car...but it just seemed like to much of a hassle and it wasn't worth buying replacement badges. Let us know if you get them off.

My suggestion would be to have a friend help you.. take 2 piecces of Dental Floss, and both of you come in from a different side slicing between that paint of your can and the tape on the badge, and try to pull up a little while your doing this.. once you are in the middle with both pieces of dental floss, pull up, and it should come out. If you do it right, it should be able to be reapplied..
