CF look vinyl sheets

This may be a good alternative for doing CF look dashes, door panels, consoles, etc.... yourself. Has anybody tried using this?

I may attempt it. Gotta go make some measurements and decide if I want to undertake a dash project.

not an expensive attempt at least. I really would like to put my hands on one and see how the quality is, i was watching them on tv which an Asian company had a boot promoting those items, so worth the try, but nothing like real c/f. I would consider them for stripes, but a long stretch for me. I have an idea, why don't you try so we all can see j/k

It's just an idea. I kinda like the CF look.......like I said...just an idea.

Others in NAM may like to see new stuff and ideas for their MINIs.

I have a roll of cf vinyl @ the house. If you put it next to real cf it looks like trash.

Seems *** backwards to me...

CF should be about weight, not looks. This adds weight. Exactly backwards.... But whatever floats your boat.

*EDIT* I don't know if you guys are aware of this but they do make Carbon Fibre in sheets with self adhesive on them. Instead of using vinyl, check this site out DRAGON PLATE scroll down their page they have some really cool CF stuff that would be fun to use in projects. It won't stretch like vinyl but you cut it and sand the edges. Hafid had a premade kit similar to this stuff in his MINI and I thought it looked pretty good.
I don't think it has to be just for weight issues, when done right it adds a certain beauty to a car.

PS
This makes me wish I'd never quit playing violin

but not for $5000!

Decal styling.com. Name says it all doesn't it? Perhaps they're a division of STICKERSPEED?

guys.. things like stripes.. ur not looking to save ounces from the car! lol how much weight do you honestly think a thin sheet of vinyl will add to the weight of the car?

vinyl cf sheets looks okay by me, of course they hold no weight to the real thing... im thinkin of doing a fake cf vinyl down the center of the car just to match with my REAL cf m7 ram air scoop... would that be a bit rice-ish? i dont think so... i think it'd look great...

i wish i have the money to get cf though...

a little off topic, but i am very big on c/f. Owned a Ducati 996sps that had all body parts with c/f except the tank for safety concerns, looked killer, way lighter, trashed it on track , following Ducs did not have a lot of c/f due to past costly experience. Now, I would love to have c/f stuff on my car. But the design of the car makes the c/f look funny, look at those Minis w/carbon hood, looks odd, unless you paint the c/f hood to body color except leaving the mid part from top to bottom coming down like a V shape. Like this Lohen electric blue :

Depends on how much you use...

Whatever floats your boat. I'm a function guy, but if you want to do it for looks, that's fine too! On my car, I"ve done almost nothing for looks....

I bought used S pedal covers (they weren't metal in 02). I got a Momo shift ****, but the mass is a nice feel to shifting as well, so not just looks. But other than that, every mod has been for performance.

While I don't do the things for looks, it's fine if others do. I'm always amazed that some things "make the cycle". Faux (sounds so much nicer than fake) CF because the performance parts in CF look good. Some from the fasion world crack me up as well. Dark roots on blond hair used to get snickers, now it's a style... Whatever.

But I do find it a bit ironic that CF is a "no cost spared" performance option that has become a "add it with no regard to performance" item.
