Thanks for the reply. Eventually I want to replace the whole piece, so this would be a temporary solution. Sounds like it should do just fine for that.

For $18.95, I would go ahead and get the real lights off ebay for $41.00. Since you said they are going to be temporary, you would end up spending $59.95 in the long run.

Thanks for the reply. I'll go back and look on Ebay again. When I looked before the listings all said '02 - '05 so I thought maybe the '06 needed a different one.

I'm pretty sure that they are the same. If not, I'll be doing some modifying. If I remember right I had to bore out the holes a little on my 04.

That's funny that you said that, I was thinking about having those slots filled in and painted when I take my aero kit to the painter but chickened out after everybody was telling me that is would be illegal and might present a problem if I end up selling this one. I think it would look slick though.

Dont get it. It would seem these are a safety feature? So someones lights can SEE you? No? If so, why black them out ... to be cool? bling?

I really wonder cause it doesnt seem to make too much sense unless lights can still see the reflector?

Basically, yes :-)

To me, it's the same idea as putting the clear lenses and stealth bulbs on the side marker lights, etc. It gives a bit cleaner look.

Yeah, I saw that thread. Seems like some people got pretty excited about it. But seriusly, I didn't even know there was a chime because I always fasten my seat belt before I even turn the key in the ignition. So I was trying to be a bit silly... hopefully I won't get called all the names that poor guy did in the thread you mentioned.

Well, there seem to be too many safety mongers on here.

As far as something little like side reflectors go, thats not something i would see as much of an issue.

even airbags, i dont see as an issiue. i dont like them. never have never will. but thats a WHOLE nother thread!

Not liking air bags...aka face bombs or not wearing ones seatbelt only affects you. When you remove the side marker lights or paint them over you are affecting everyones safety around you. I'd like to be seen by others on the road. Just my weird .02 here.

Not to get **** about this but thats not quite true. Everytime there is an injury, property damage, whatever because someone didnt use a federal mandated safety feature .... everyones insurance eventually goes up. This will fall on deaf ears to some but the rest of the public pay for those who choose to remove the safety device.

I can picture it now ...

Passerby "how they die"
Office "blacked out side markers, the other car couldnt see his car because it was too dark"
Passerby "bummer"

If it's that dark, they should have headlights, and taillights, and all sorts of other lights. Doesn't seem likely that a few small orange reflectors on the quarter panel would make a difference one way or another. Especially when the the rest of the world doesn't have them, and don't seem to be dying in droves because of that lack.

So who looks that low when driving at night to see the other cars. The refecltors are useless and ugly. I mean your car has this new invention called headlights the reflector only works when you use them, so turn them on shut-off cell phone put down the news paper, stop playing with your sat nav, and don't try to be a showoff, you'd be amazed what happens you can acctually see the other cars.
