Interior/Exterior show me the ball you have on your shifter!

It took me a while to get used to it, but I really like it now. It feels great to use as well, nice and smooth and it doesn't get quite as hot as a metal one. Although it can get a bit chilly during Canberra's cold winters. Mind, it doesn't have the same weight as the metal *****, the pool ball is fractionally heavier than stock, but there's not much in it.
Thanks for the comments.

Most ***** that you buy come with adapters that are just different size rubber sleeves that fill any space between the shaft and ****, and many then also have set screws. My MOMO had both, and then the base screws up to cover the set screws. I am now using my stock **** with the MOMO base and adapter on a short shifter, as I like the low **** better than the high-riding MOMO I selected, though the MOMO was much more solid and better quality.
If you have a **** but it is too large and you have no adapter you could buy a really cheap **** just for the adapters.

it comes with a metal sleeve and a set screw. this can be used as is on the cars without a kink in the shifter shaft or on cars with a kinked shaft IF you only cut off about 2" from the shaft.
but if you cut off over 3" from a kinked shaft, like i did, you also have to cut off that metal sleeve. i made a very tightly fitting plastic shim so that the **** doesn't pull off in normal driving. i thought about gluing it with wimpy contact cement or tapping the plastic sphere itself, but didn't bother because it works well enough for me as is.
Flyboy, I saw your mod a long time ago. A few days ago, I did it, but added a twist to it. My mod accept the stock ball and the whalen, that I do not have yet. I am using the stock plastic molding to keep it in place. The DYI is here:

If somebody has a whalen for sale, let me know. If not, I will buy one with my own design on it.

[applause smiley] i applaud your VERY clever reuse of the molded plastic; i wish i'd thought of that.
what year is your car? i could be wrong, but i thought the 2005/2006 shaft and platistic molding looked different.
i continue to love the crisp, low slop feel this mod gives.

one for each speed in the box
)
i recently test drove a 6 speed nc miata; my cut down mcs shifter felt MUCH, MUCH better. but i suspect that a cut down nc miata might feel better than a cut down mcs because it doesn't have cables/rods in the mechanism. (i must add that it was a cut down older miata shifter that inspired me to cut my mcs.)

Height of the stock ****?
Hi all,
I recently installed a MOMO EVO race ****. I did not like how it looked and how high it was (the added height pretty much cancelled out the effects of my Helix SS kit). So I cut some off the shaft and reduced its diameter with a dremmel (using a grinding wheel) and some emory paper (used like a shoe-shine rag to round off the rough edges). Here's the final result:

I would like to get the height as close to stock as possible. Can anyone with a stock shifter and **** measure the distance from the top edge of the bezel to the top of the ****?
Thanks, and love all the variety in shift *****.
