I wish I'd discovered this forum prior to placing my order. I think I'll be happy with what I chose EXCEPT for the runflats. After reading about them, they sound like a giant waste of money. I could've had an HK stereo for nearly the same price. Doh!

I'm curious what others would've changed about their orders.

um, if you wanted the Sport package, then you get the run-flats regardless. No need to fret, MINI dealerships will soon have a retrofit kit to change the base-model stereo to the H/K Hi-Fi.

When it's time to change the tires, opt for non-run-flats, and keep a can of "fix-a-flat" (or 2) with you.

Doh! LOL. I COMPLETELY forgot that the runflats were part of a package. All I remember is that I thought they sounded cool and that I'd like them. I feel better now.

And I'll wait for the HK stereo.

I was trying to start a thread that would help people who are still trying to figure out what to order by letting them know what people would do differently if they had to do it over again.

Thanks.

i think there are TWO things that are a must for the mini:

1) sports suspension plus=the car cant handle the slightest of pot holes therefore the more suspension the better.

2) auto dimming mirros=since mini is so low to the ground you constantly get blinded by these SUV freaks

I have put in my order for my MC and upgraded to 16" runflats. From your experience, should I stick with the 15"?

Kelisa: to throw some perspective your way, My MCS will have the 17's with run-flats, and I live in pothole-city: Detroit. I've learned over the years to actively search and drive around potholes, it's necessary otherwise you're wheel/tire budget would be out of control!

The breakdown: 15's if you want squishier ride and total pothole compliance. 16's if you want better handling, run-flats versus donut spare, better style and less pothole compliance.

Cheers,
Ryan

So, is it possible to get the run flats AND a spare? I was looking at some of the pic's that Randy posted of the perfomance exhausts and the MCS looked different underneath there vs. the MC.

Coopers can theoretically have runflats and a spare, Cooper Ss cannot. The supercharger under the hood of the S doesn't leave enough room for the batter, so it's located in the middle rear, thereby leaving no room for a spare.

I have a Cooper with the runflats and spare as well...and as soon as the risk of snow is gone in NJ, the runflats are history.
