Anyone know how to remove the A/C vents?

I'd like to experiment with mounting a boost gauge in one, but preliminary poking, prodding, and pulling yielded no progress.

a/c vents out

pulled my 2 center vents out to install s-w oil & water. vents are hard to get out.i just pryed them out with a small screw-driver.be sure to protect the suround with a rag.broke 2 of the retaining clips, don"t need them anyway
minor damage to suround is covered by the finishing ring.
the ring comes off by turning about 1/8 turn to the right.
mine looks perfect. just go slow to keep damage low.
hope this helps,doug

Thanks Doug. I ended up figuring it out last night. The vent mechanism is fairly complex, and mounting a boost gauge in the center would require the removal of the components which hold the vent in the a/c cavity. Looks like I'm going to have to attempt to purchase a single vent mount from one of the vendors.

It wasn't that hard dude. I used an autometer angle ring to mount a voltmeter in my center right dash vent:

I ended up buying a full single gauge kit for $40. It came with a replacement underhood FPR vac hose, an excellent vent gauge mount that fits in the stock mechanism, and a bunch of other stuff.

Hi,

Where did you get this kit? Any pictures of it?

Cheers,

Kevin

No pics, but it looks just like the one in the pic above but it is centered and straight.

Email DENNIS at ryepatruv3(at)juno(dot)com. I just checked - it was $45.00 plus a few bucks for shipping. Great deal...

Just to be clear the reason why mine is not centered and straight is because I purposefully angled it towards the driver seat to make it easier to see......
