after market sun roofs for a cooper s

I realize that the best sun roof for the mini is probably the one you can get with it. However, my car is sun roofless, I bought a cancellation as I needed a car right away instead of waiting 3-4 months for it. I ended up with a car pretty much ready for auto-x, lsd and stripped, no options except for steering wheel, which is totally fine with me, execpt for the sun roof. Ive read alot about this, and still want it regardless of the higher center of gravity.

Does anyone have much experience with webasto? I found their website when googling for a sun roof place in my area.

Some people have suggested I just sell my current car and buy one with a sunroof, but Ive already gone and installed the mini rack on the roof of mine and would like to keep it after the amount Ive spent. I'm also not sure about selling my car as its a bone stock mini with lsd and steering wheel mount only and I dont think I'd get as much for it, its only 3 months old 5,700 miles.

How about a regular sunroof? I think it looks as cool as the panaromic roof, with less cost. My biggest problem with the panaromic roof is the car gets so hot during hot summer days here in Texas. I had a reflective tint installed, it is still hot. My next Mini, I am not getting sunroof, it is noisy when open, especially over 45 mph, and I really do not get to use it.

I live in california and do most of my driving in the valley or along the coast. The hottest it gets here is maybe 90 or so and dont think I'd have it open for freeway driving, I really like how much light the panormic lets in and think with a better sunshade it wouldnt get the car too hot. In texas I can see how you'd want a normal roof though.

I know a lot of people who've gotten Webasto's on other cars, and my friend's dad is a dealer of them, and he's always had them on his cars, and nobody has ever had any complaints. It's a very quality product and I think the look suits the MINI.

just remember, MC's w/o a sunroof have structural components right where material will need to be removed.....

have you considered 3 or 4 regular single pane sunroofs?

what kind of structural components will be in the way? Do they make the nonsunroof roof a lot stronger? Even if I put a webasto in, wouldnt it be just as strong as a mini with built in sunroof, or do those have more reinforcement too?

I saw a Mini the other day in the service area at Mini of Towson, and there was a thick black border around the top. Until I saw this, I was wondering what it was, and I forgot to ask an SA.
